Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte expressed his condolences to the victims of the "catastrophic" event. The exact cause of the collapse remains unclear.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims,” Lochem city officials posted on X.
City authorities said the cause of the collapse was still unclear and were investigating why it happened.
Safety officials also told Dutch news agency RTL Nieuws that "at least one person was resuscitated" after the crash.
A journalist for the Dutch newspaper De Stentor witnessed the accident. “Suddenly there was a loud bang,” he said. “The whole arch started shaking. Then the whole thing collapsed. We saw two construction workers fall.”
In a post on X, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte called the accident "tragic". He wished "strength" to the bereaved family and those affected by the accident.
The province of Gelderland also issued a message: “Our condolences go out to all the victims, the injured and their families.”
