Construction is about to begin on the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway.

The project, with a total investment of over 36,000 billion VND, will commence construction at the end of 2025, completing the inter-regional connectivity network.

The Ministry of Construction has just signed Decision No. 2166/QD-BXD, approving the investment project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway under the PPP method, with a total investment of over 36,000 billion VND. The project will commence in the fourth quarter of 2025 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2028.

The project starts at Km9+325 at the Cho Dem intersection, in Tan Nhut commune, Ho Chi Minh City; and ends at Km105+454 at the northern end of My Thuan 2 bridge, in An Huu commune, Dong Thap province. The total length of the project is approximately 96.13 km, passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh province, and Dong Thap province.

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong section, according to the approved plan, will have 10-12 lanes (12 lanes for the Cho Dem - Ring Road 4 section and 10 lanes for the Ring Road 4 - Trung Luong section), with phased investment to 8 lanes and a design speed of 120 km/h. The Trung Luong - My Thuan section and the section from the An Thai Trung intersection to the northern end of My Thuan 2 bridge will be fully developed to 6 lanes according to the approved plan, with a design speed of 100 km/h.

The project will invest in a comprehensive intelligent traffic management system: building new, utilizing, and upgrading existing traffic management systems, electronic toll collection systems, vehicle weight control facilities, ensuring traffic control and management appropriate to the scale of investment in the road; meeting the requirements for highway operation and exploitation; and ensuring synchronous and unified connectivity with adjacent routes.

The project's rest stops are located at Km28+200 (Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong section) and at Km78+220 (Trung Luong - My Thuan section). Within the project area, there are 10 interchanges, including the renovation and upgrading of 8 existing interchanges to match the highway expansion scale; and the addition of 2 new interchanges.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway expansion project is being implemented as an urgent strategic solution to complete this key infrastructure route and definitively resolve the serious congestion problem, creating leverage for the development of the entire Mekong Delta region.

The consortium of investors designated to implement the project includes Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company, Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company, Tasco Joint Stock Company, Hoang Long Construction Investment Corporation - JSC, and CII Services and Investment One-Member Limited Company.

The consortium of investors consists of businesses with experience in the transportation infrastructure sector, possessing the capacity to implement this large-scale project with high technical requirements and complex construction organization.
