As soon as the incident was discovered, local people and staff of Ia Dom Commune Health Station provided first aid to the victims. At the same time, the victims were transferred to Gia Lai Provincial Children's Hospital for emergency treatment.
Through verification by local authorities, it was determined that the cause of the incident was that while adults went to work in the fields, students arbitrarily found and caught toads to process and eat toad meat (liver, eggs, bile), causing poisoning.
Speaking to CAND Newspaper, a leader of Gia Lai Province Children's Hospital said that the health of the patients is now stable and there are no critical cases, one case has been discharged. The hospital has mobilized doctors to focus on treatment and educate patients about the dangers of eating toad meat.
Mr. Le Trong Phuc, Chairman of Ia Dom Commune People's Committee, added that after the above incident, the Commune People's Committee and the organization went to Mook Trang village to strengthen propaganda work, broadcast information on the radio system and social networks to raise awareness among people in preventing toad meat poisoning. At the same time, when detecting a case of eating toad meat and having unusual symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain... it is necessary to go immediately to the nearest medical facility for timely emergency treatment.
