After the success of 'Sister-in-law', Khuong Ngoc continues to make the family film 'Grandma's Gold'

On the morning of May 25, the film crew of 'Grandma's Gold' started filming in Ho Chi Minh City, marking the official start of the next film project directed by Khuong Ngoc.

With Grandma's Gold Cube , Khuong Ngoc no longer exploits dramatic conflicts or social shocks but steps into the world of family love, telling a very close and intimate story about the feelings between grandmother and grandchild, a familiar topic but rarely exploited on the big screen.

Grandmother-grandchild relationship becomes the central theme

Vietnamese cinema has had many films about family, from father-child relationships, mother-child relationships, to husband-wife relationships, siblings, etc., but the love between grandmother and grandchild is rarely the main theme.

Grandma's Gold Cube is a Vietnamese film that chooses to tell a complete story about the grandmother-grandchild relationship, spending the entire duration to delve into the most familiar relationship of many generations with memories of the spoonful of rice that grandma feeds, the hand of grandma taking grandchild to school, the proud eyes when seeing grandchild's good grades or even the nagging of grandma why she doesn't go to bed early...

The title of the film Grandma's Gold comes from the name that generations of grandmothers and mothers have used to call their children. "Golden Ball" and "Grandma's Sweetheart" are simple, naive ways of addressing each other, but they contain unconditional love, clearly showing the preciousness, expectations and love of the women in the family for the next generation.

That's why Khuong Ngoc chose "Grandma's Gold" as the film's title, not only to remind, but also so that anyone who was once a little grandchild, when hearing that call again, will smile or maybe, shed tears.

Khuong Ngoc makes a film dedicated to his beloved mothers and grandmothers.

Director Khuong Ngoc shared: "The love of a mother or grandmother cannot be defined in words. My mother was once a mother, then a grandmother, then a quiet woman behind it all. I want to send this film to them: women who do not ask for gratitude, but are always the last ones standing at the door waiting for their children and grandchildren to come home. I do not try to make a film to prove anything, I just want to tell what I remember. And I hope the audience will remember those things like me."

The crew of Ngoai's Gold Cube started filming on May 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to information from the producer 856 Pictures, in addition to the main filming scene in Ho Chi Minh City, the film also has locations stretching from Bao Loc to Binh Thuan . The crew has not yet revealed the film's cast. Ngoai's Gold is expected to be released nationwide in October 2025.
