On October 13, the final round of the 24th Road to Olympia officially took place. After 4 intense rounds, male student Vo Quang Phu Duc, a student at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue , won the championship.
With this victory, in addition to the prestigious 18K gold-plated laurel wreath, the champion of the 24th Road to Olympia also received a prize worth 50,000 USD (1.25 billion VND) and the opportunity to study abroad in Australia.

Returning victoriously, on the afternoon of October 14, Vo Quang Phu Duc was cheered and welcomed by teachers and friends at his beloved school - Hue National High School for the Gifted. Hundreds of students and teachers flooded the school yard to congratulate the champion. At Hue National School campus, many students hung banners and prepared many bouquets of fresh flowers to give to Phu Duc.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Tho , Principal of Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted, said he is proud of Phu Duc and the school will honor and give gifts to the male student.
Not stopping there, on the morning of October 16, in order to promptly congratulate and encourage student Vo Quang Phu Duc, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province organized a ceremony to commend and award a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to Phu Duc. The reward is worth 40 million VND, equivalent to the First Prize for Excellent Students at the National level.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Province, said Duc's achievements continue the tradition of studiousness of the ancient capital and Quoc Hoc Hue High School. As a student specializing in Mathematics, to win the Road to Olympia competition, Mr. Phuong assessed that the male student had to go through a process of training and improving his knowledge in many fields.
“With his outstanding achievements and determination, champion Vo Quang Phu Duc will continue to make further strides in the future. I wish him continued success in his studies and future scientific career that he has pursued to contribute to the development of his homeland,” said the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.
In addition, the 2024 Road to Olympia champion Phu Duc was also awarded a 100% tuition scholarship and a 1-year accommodation sponsorship in the UK by an international school in Vietnam with a total value of more than 60,000 pounds.

A business owner in Hue City gave Phu Duc a smart cargo bag when he returned to his hometown. He said: “This is the first smart cargo bag product in Vietnam that I created myself, helping hundreds of thousands of people transport goods more easily. After receiving it, Duc can let his family use it or give it to a neighbor who you passed by to pack ham or to anyone you think is appropriate.”
In addition to the backpack, this person also gave the champion a small amount of money to congratulate him. Duc Phu happily accepted the gift and then gave it back to the restaurant where he was eating.
Sharing after winning, Vo Quang Phu Duc sent his thanks to the provincial leaders, parents, teachers, and friends who have always cared, supported, and accompanied him in the process of conquering the Road to Olympia in 2024. "My future dream is to become a computer programmer to try to contribute a lot to society and to the development of technology in Vietnam," Phu Duc shared.
Before Phu Duc, Thua Thien Hue had two Olympia champions: Ho Ngoc Han (2009) and Ho Dac Thanh Chuong (2016). Of these, Ho Ngoc Han, after studying and working in Australia and England, returned to become a lecturer at Hue University.
Last year, Olympia champion Le Xuan Manh was awarded 200 million VND by Thanh Hoa province as an "unexpected" reward, twice as high as the reward for the province's international gold medal.
