From 207 transaction offices in localities across the country, after 2 years of continuous closure, SCB has now shrunk to only 54 transaction offices in 20 provinces and cities.

According to research, SCB was established in 1992 with more than 30 years of operation, this bank has just gone through a challenging period after being involved in a major case related to serious financial issues. This incident has significantly affected the trust of customers and partners.

Recently, SCB has updated the list of transaction offices after merging localities. As of July 15, this bank only maintains 54 transaction offices in 20 provinces and cities after the merger.

Currently, SCB has more than 50 transaction offices left.

This figure is equivalent to about 25% compared to 207 transaction offices in June 2023. Thus, in just the past 2 years after the incident, this bank had to close more than 153 transaction offices.

Currently, SCB has only 54 transaction offices and mainly concentrated in two major cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In which, Ho Chi Minh City has the most SCB transaction points with 19 points and in Hanoi, SCB has 8 transaction offices.

Meanwhile, in Hai Phong and Vinh Long, each locality has 3 SCB transaction offices. An Giang , Gia Lai, Tay Ninh, Da Nang and Dong Thap each have 2 SCB transaction offices.

The rest are distributed in provinces such as Bac Ninh , Ca Mau, Can Tho, Hung Yen, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Dong Nai, each locality SCB has 1 SCB transaction office.

The simultaneous closure of transaction offices by SCB took place after Ms. Truong My Lan - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group - was arrested and brought to trial in the Van Thinh Phat case. The reduction of transaction offices has been the most intense since June 2023 and shows no signs of stopping.

In 2024 alone, SCB will cease operations at 95 transaction points. In the first 6 months of 2025, 14 SCB transaction offices will cease operations.

However, according to information from SCB, the termination of the above transaction offices will not affect the bank's operations. Along with the termination of the transaction points, SCB also drastically cut staff and liquidated a series of assets such as specialized cars, ATMs and other assets.

Previously, on October 15, 2022, the State Bank announced a decision to put SCB under special control to stabilize the bank's operations. The State Bank's special control of a credit institution is a professional measure in accordance with the law to strictly control and limit negative impacts on that credit institution and the system of credit institutions.

At the same time, it is necessary to select and appoint experienced, capable and professionally qualified officers from Big4 banks including Vietcombank, BIDV, VietinBank, Agribank to participate in the management and operation of SCB./.
