TTH.VN - The Ministry of Transport has just approved a network of rest stops on the eastern North-South expressway with 36 stations.

The largest station is up to 13 hectares on each side; the smallest is 2.5 hectares on each side. The basic construction items of the rest stop include public service works provided free of charge such as: parking lot, resting space, temporary rest room for drivers, toilet area, information area.

Along with that are commercial service facilities, such as food and beverage service areas; product display and sales areas; fuel stations; electric charging stations; vehicle maintenance and repair workshops; and bedrooms for drivers and passengers staying overnight.

The Ministry of Transport requires project management boards and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) to compile a list of projects and select investors to build rest stops under the project and component projects managed by the Ministry of Transport. The investment must ensure compliance with legal regulations and meet the requirements for synchronous exploitation of expressway sections on the eastern North-South route.

The Ministry of Transport also noted that it should coordinate with local authorities to survey and carefully study the specific conditions of the area where the rest stop is built to accurately determine the scale and construction items to ensure investment efficiency and compliance with legal regulations. For rest stops under expressway projects managed by localities, the selection of investors and implementation of investment are organized by localities.

The Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to update the rest stop network on the eastern North-South Expressway in the process of completing the road traffic infrastructure planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
