The license plate on this Lamborghini Urus super SUV was successfully auctioned for a record price of CHF 299,000 (about VND 9.65 billion) to commemorate the Swiss football team's historic victory over Italy in the round of 16 of Euro 2024. This victory helped the team reach the quarter-finals of a Euro for the first time in nearly two decades. Not only does it have a special spiritual meaning, the license plate “ZH 24” is also very rare as it only has two digits, while normal license plates in Switzerland usually have up to six digits.
The Lamborghini Urus with the license plate “ZH 24” is one of thousands of Urus cars currently on the road in Switzerland. However, compared to the value of the license plate, the car itself is worth significantly less. In Switzerland, a 2018 Lamborghini Urus with about 89,500 km on the clock is currently for sale for about 179,000 CHF (5.77 billion VND), just over half the value of the license plate.
If purchased through an authorized dealer, customers can also choose newer Urus models such as the Urus S (17,500 km) for 279,000 CHF (over 9 billion VND), or the Urus Performante (15,500 km) for the equivalent of 299,000 CHF (9.65 billion VND), equal to the auction price of the "ZH 24" license plate. The Lamborghini Urus was first introduced in 2017, after many years of development since the concept was launched in 2012. This is the first super SUV in Lamborghini's history, and quickly became the company's best-selling car in many markets thanks to the combination of sporty performance and convenience. Under the hood, the Urus is equipped with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 650 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. On the mid-life upgrade version including the Urus S and Urus Performante, the power level is pushed up to 666 horsepower, significantly improving performance.
Dubbed the “golden goose” for Lamborghini, the Urus super SUV in Vietnam has so far had no less than 30 units, with a variety of different versions. Before being officially distributed, this model even had a rolling price of more than 23 billion VND. Currently, the official price has dropped to 13.1 billion VND for the standard version.
