From now until the end of 2023, the Singapore Tourism Board will step up coordination with partners in Vietnam to enhance promotion and attract visitors.

As of June 23, 2023, Singapore has welcomed about 6.28 million international visitors. Of which, about 227,300 Vietnamese visitors have come to Singapore, reaching 185% compared to the same period last year; ranking Vietnam 11th in the market sending visitors to Singapore.

Singapore is forecast to welcome 12-14 million international visitors in 2023. To achieve this target, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is working closely with tourism partners in Singapore, as well as in key markets such as Vietnam, to develop innovative tourism products targeting high-quality visitors, while strengthening Singapore’s position as an attractive business and leisure destination.

On the morning of July 17, STB signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance the tourism experience and attract 20,000 Vietnamese tourists to Singapore, starting from August 2023. Ms. Serene Ng - Chief Representative of STB in Vietnam said: "We work closely with our strategic partners, with the desire to collect and share information about tourists' preferences and needs. This can help both sides adjust marketing methods and strategies more effectively. Through this partnership, we hope to welcome more tourists to Singapore, while enhancing the tourism experience for Vietnamese tourists."

According to the agreement, within 12 months, the two sides will cooperate to create new experiences for mass tourism and MICE tourism; cooperate to develop promotional campaigns and marketing content by supporting advertising costs for destinations in Singapore, supporting value-added services for tourists choosing Singapore as a tourist destination with gifts, shopping vouchers, dining vouchers, etc., maintaining and expanding support policies for MICE groups considering choosing Singapore as a destination.

In addition to travel agencies, STB also cooperated with 6 culinary establishments from Singapore and Vietnam in July and August 2023, with the campaign "Taste Obsession: Singapore" to introduce Singaporean cuisine to Vietnamese people, bring the opportunity to experience typical Singaporean dishes to diners, and encourage Vietnamese people to come directly to Singapore to experience. This is an activity within the framework of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership between Singapore and Vietnam.

Each event is a collaboration between one Singaporean and one Vietnamese restaurant , with a menu that blends signature dishes from both countries.

“The Taste Obsession: Singapore campaign is a bridge to bring the quintessence of Singaporean cuisine to Vietnamese diners. The program aims to give Vietnamese people the opportunity to experience dishes with unique flavors, rich in local cuisine; as well as contribute to the knowledge of diverse Singaporean cuisine, helping to add more color to the journey of discovering Singapore. In addition, the campaign also brings together famous chefs, bringing a new breeze to the dishes through the culinary fusion of two cultures Vietnam - Singapore", Ms. Serene Ng shared.
