The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just sent a document to the People's Committees of wards, communes, units and schools under the Department regarding the school closure on October 6.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, implementing Official Dispatch No. 1753/CD-BGDDT dated October 2 of the Ministry of Education and Training on overcoming the consequences of Storm No. 10 and proactively responding to Storm No. 11; Official Dispatch No. 16/CD-UBND dated October 4 of the City People's Committee on urgently deploying response work to Storm No. 11 (Storm Matmo).

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that following Official Dispatch No. 4019 dated October 3 of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on proactively responding to storm No. 11 and according to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of October 5 to October 7, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North, there will be heavy rain, locally very heavy rain.

To ensure the safety of students and teachers, the Department of Education and Training requests that units let students take a day off on October 6 (Monday) and switch from in-person teaching to online teaching while continuing to monitor the weather situation in the following days to promptly handle situations flexibly in teaching and learning; regularly update information, promptly report difficulties and problems to the Department of Education and Training (through the Department of Politics , Ideology and Student Affairs) for handling according to regulations.

Previously, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued a document requesting schools to closely monitor the situation, promptly adjust flexible teaching plans, choose appropriate forms, and ensure student safety.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested the People's Committees of wards and communes to direct educational establishments in the area; heads of units and schools under the Department to closely monitor the developments of storm No. 11, seriously and effectively implement the directions and instructions of the Central, City and local authorities in the work of natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue; closely monitor weather developments to proactively prevent, avoid, respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Based on the weather situation, units proactively review and prepare plans, deploy disaster response plans according to the "4 on-site" motto suitable to school conditions; review the tree system; have plans and promptly relocate assets, machinery, equipment, tables, chairs, records, books to safe places, minimizing damage caused.

Units and educational institutions with boarding students need to closely manage students. The movement of students must be closely coordinated between the school and the family and adequate preparation of drinking water, food and provisions must be made to ensure the living needs of students staying at school during storms.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires that, in the face of natural disasters, storms, floods, and epidemics, heads of educational institutions need to regularly monitor the situation, promptly adjust flexible teaching and learning plans, and choose appropriate forms, etc.

The Department also reminded schools to absolutely not organize extracurricular activities or collective activities, especially in areas at risk of flooding and landslides. Schools also need to establish information channels with parents to manage students when participating in local activities. Schools should proactively organize cleaning and disinfection, and overcome flooding to ensure a safe environment for students and teachers.
