Department of Education and Training "introduces an attractive menu": What will Ho Chi Minh City students do this summer?

(Dan Tri) - This summer 2025, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have an "explosive" summer vacation with a series of new and attractive learning and entertainment activities just announced by the Department of Education and Training.

With the theme "Proud of Children of Uncle Ho City", the 2025 summer activity plan is designed for students of all levels of general education, vocationaleducation - continuing education in Ho Chi Minh City.

The main goal is not only to create a useful playground but also to educate about revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyle, life skills, sense of civic responsibility, arouse patriotism and national pride, contributing to forming qualities that meet the requirements of the 2018 general education program.

In particular, the Department of Education and Training emphasized "saying no" to widespread teaching of cultural knowledge during the summer. Summer activities will focus on skill training, developing diverse clubs, and attracting student participation. Cultural review during the summer is only for students with poor academic performance.

Traditional, historical, educational activities ideal

The Department requires that the implementation and organization of activities must ensure flexibility and creativity; the content of the organization must be lively, attractive, attract a large number of students and be consistent with the policies of the Party, State and Ho Chi Minh City.

The 2025 summer activity plan will be linked to the 2025 Children's Action Month, with the theme "Prioritizing resources to complete goals for children", organizing the first contest "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style".

Many educational activities, learning about Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, style, national and local traditions will be implemented. The campaign "Every week a beautiful story, a good book, a shining example" will also be promoted through reviewing and supplementing books, building reading spots, organizing tours of the book street, the Ho Chi Minh City General Library and periodic Book Festivals.

In addition, students also participate in propaganda activities on children's rights according to the United Nations Convention and the 2016 Children's Law, as well as issues related to child protection, care, prevention of child labor, domestic violence and school violence...

The Department of Education and Training will also coordinate to organize propaganda about important holidays such as Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1), World Population Day (July 11) and Vietnam Family Day (June 28).

Fun, entertainment and training activities

In the summer of 2025, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a vacation filled with fun, entertainment and physical and mental health activities.

Along with that, the Department of Education and Training also develops plans for creative experiential activities, career guidance, talent training and social practice skills, injury prevention, with a special focus on popularizing swimming and preventing drowning.

Children are also encouraged to exercise at home, learn about physical and mental health, and develop safe living habits to prevent disease.

Furthermore, Family Day 2025 will be held to honor cultural and happy families, strengthen the bond between members, educate on ethics, lifestyle, behavior, love and good cultural values, and prevent social evils and domestic violence.

Activities to raise awareness of traffic safety and environmental protection

A series of activities will be organized, integrated into the Environmental Action Month, including the "Green Living" Festival, tree planting activities, creating green areas "Join hands for the green city", along with providing propaganda materials and integrating environmental protection content into summer activities.

Students and their families will be educated and instructed on environmental hygiene, participation in Green Sunday, personal hygiene and environmental hygiene education, "eating cooked food and drinking boiled water", choosing safe food, saving and protecting water resources...

Regarding traffic safety, propaganda activities, instructions on wearing safe helmets, and traffic safety playgrounds will be organized in coordination with the City Traffic Safety Committee. Investment in visual propaganda products on environmental protection and traffic safety will be encouraged, promoting the role of "Every student is a propagandist".

Finally, activities in response to ASEAN Dengue Day will also be coordinated, encouraging general cleaning of schools, elimination of mosquito breeding sites and implementation of effective dengue prevention measures.

Drowning prevention activities and safe swimming lessons

In particular, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will pay special attention to drowning prevention and safe swimming instruction in the summer of 2025.

Professional training activities on swimming and drowning prevention will be organized for physical education teachers. Departments of Education and Training and educational institutions are responsible for implementing safe swimming classes, giving priority to primary and secondary school students who do not know how to swim, especially in areas with high risk of drowning.

Propaganda and education on drowning prevention skills will be carried out in a variety of ways through specialized activities, skill playgrounds, school radio and visual forms.

Student swimming clubs are encouraged to be established and maintained, along with organizing swimming competitions at all levels and participating in the City Student Swimming Festival.

Child care and protection activities

At the same time, activities to care for and protect children are also focused on by coordinating the organization of the City Leaders' Meeting Program, listening to children's voices, activities on International Children's Day June 1 and the Month of Action for Children.

The program "Hand-to-Hand Books - Bridge of Love" continues to be implemented, along with caring for students in difficult circumstances and orphaned due to Covid-19.

The Department will also coordinate to organize meetings between City People's Council delegates and students, "Listening to children's voices" forums, and mobilize social resources to care for students in special circumstances and coordinate to monitor the implementation of policies for children, promptly handle issues related to child abuse, violence, child labor abuse, and promptly protect vulnerable children.

Volunteer activities

Volunteer activities are indispensable in a meaningful summer, especially encouraged by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Department proposes to mobilize resources to invest in building and organizing playgrounds for children. At the same time, it will increase the mobilization of young teachers, students, and trainees to participate in the 2025 Summer Volunteer Campaign, promoting the role of clubs, skill groups, Youth Union cadre clubs, volunteer forces, and the team of Team Leaders.

The coordination of content development, preparation of forces and resources for peak activities is also focused on, ensuring absolute security and safety for students and trainees when participating, especially in the Hoa Phuong Do campaign and volunteer activities in suburban districts.

The Department of Education and Training also encourages units to have forms of encouragement and rewards for groups and individuals who do a good job of organizing summer activities in 2025.
