Dr. Phan Van Hieu - Deputy Director of the Department chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, the Council reviewed, discussed and evaluated 03 proposed scientific and technological tasks, including: (1) Research on the propagation of Zingiber officinale (Willd) Roscoe using tissue culture in the laboratory in Quang Ngai province. (2) Collecting and evaluating the quality of Codonopsis pilosula medicinal herbs in some growing areas in Quang Ngai province. (3) Isolating and selecting Trichoderma strains from coffee growing soil in the western part of Quang Ngai province to serve the production of microbial preparations to prevent fungal diseases of coffee plants.

The Council is responsible for advising on determining the list of basic-level science and technology tasks in the field of Biotechnology to be implemented in 2025 accurately and honestly in accordance with the provisions of Articles 33, 34, and 35 of Circular No. 09/2024/TT-BKHCN dated December 27, 2024 of the Minister of Science and Technology on Regulations on management of provincial-level and basic-level science and technology tasks using the state budget and current regulations.

Dr. Vo Chau Tuan, Lecturer of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Biology, University of Education - Danang University, discussed and selected the list of basic-level tasks.

Through professional exchanges, the Council members agreed not to include in the 2025 task list the proposal "Research on the propagation of Buffalo Ginger (Zingiber officinale (Willd) Roscoe)) by tissue culture method in the laboratory in Quang Ngai province" due to many limitations in terms of urgency, feasibility and priority orientation.

For the remaining two tasks, the Council highly appreciated the urgency, applicability and socio-economic efficiency. Members also gave suggestions to adjust and perfect the name and orientation of the research objectives, to ensure scientificity, practicality and conformity with the province's biotechnology development strategy.

Dr. Nguyen Minh Can, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Pham Van Dong University, discussed and selected the list of basic-level tasks.

Clearly defining grassroots science and technology tasks in the field of Biotechnology is an important step, contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Resolution 71/NQ-CP of the Government and action plans of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Quang Ngai province on science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Agronomy Training Program, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Quy Nhon University, discussed and selected the list of basic-level tasks.
