Macadamia Garden
The task "Evaluation of the growth and development capacity of Macadamia strains/varieties (Macadamia integrifolia), meeting the requirements for sustainable development of Macadamia trees in Kon Tum province" is chaired by MSc. Pham Doan Phu Quoc - Tay Nguyen University.
From August 2023 to now, the presiding agency and task leader have investigated and determined the basic characteristics (climate, soil, terrain...) of ecological sub-regions and localities of Kon Tum province (old) where Macadamia trees are grown; investigated the system of technical measures for growing Macadamia trees in localities (tree lines/varieties, ground cover treatment, soil preparation, hole digging, fertilization, season, planting techniques (planting methods, distance, planting density), garden care and management techniques; investigated and evaluated the growth and development situation and productivity, harvest output and economic efficiency (if any) of different Macadamia lines/varieties that have been grown according to different methods (monoculture and intercropping) currently available in localities of Kon Tum province (old).

According to the report, in the coming time, the task force will evaluate the suitability of Macadamia lines/varieties that have been planted in different ecological sub-regions of Kon Tum province (old); determine natural factors (climate, soil, terrain...) and factors (planting and care techniques) affecting the growth and development and productivity of Macadamia lines/varieties that have been planted in ecological sub-regions; develop adaptation maps for ecological sub-regions suitable for specific Macadamia lines/varieties; develop technical guidance documents for planting and care for 2-3 promising Macadamia lines/varieties and planting models (methods) suitable for production conditions in ecological regions of Kon Tum province (old).
