At the meeting, Mr. Pham Ngoc Sinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang - emphasized the increasingly important role of women in the fields of science - technology and digital transformation. Mr. Sinh shared: "Da Nang possesses a lot of potential, especially after the merger with Quang Nam province in terms of regional development strategy. The city has two airports, three seaports, a free trade zone, large industrial parks and especially a synchronously invested innovation ecosystem. With a vision to 2045, Da Nang aims to become a leading innovation center in Asia, in which the role of high-quality human resources, including female intellectuals - is an indispensable factor."
In recent times, Da Nang city has issued many mechanisms to encourage innovation and accompany start-up businesses. The city's innovation ecosystem has risen to 5th place nationwide according to the PII index and increased 130 places on the global ecosystem map, to 766th place, according to the announcement of Startup Blink organization in May 2025.
Vietnamese women are increasingly asserting their role in scientific research and entrepreneurship.
At the working session, the consultation contents revolved around the main topics: the role of women in state management of science and technology, gender equality policies in the field of innovation and digital transformation, difficulties and barriers in practice and proposed solutions from different perspectives, including female leaders, male leaders and young female cadres being planned.
Ms. Le Thi Khanh Van - Director of the Center for Science and Technology Application and Entrepreneurship under the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals said: "Before organizing the official workshop, we want to listen to the voices of the team working at state management agencies to better understand the reality and expectations. This is a necessary preparation step to ensure that the future workshop is focused, practical and capable of recommending effective policies."
The consultation also raised many suggestive questions such as: opportunities and challenges for young female staff in the technology field, which support policies are being implemented effectively, what are the biggest barriers in promoting women's participation in leadership and management, and the role of men in building a fair organizational culture, encouraging career development regardless of gender.
Some opinions suggest that, in addition to the policies of the Central Government, there should be more mentoring programs, specialized training, creating challenging and development spaces for female cadres, especially in fields requiring high-tech expertise. At the same time, it is necessary to eliminate gender bias in some working environments, strengthen the connection and support from the professional community and the network of female leaders.
Representatives of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City acknowledged the comments and said they will continue to accompany COSTAS and related organizations in promoting gender equality associated with technology development, innovation and digital transformation. This is also part of the effort to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in national science, technology and innovation development, as well as to concretize the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation that has just been issued.
The working session ended in a spirit of building, listening and accompanying, opening up a new direction for promoting women's participation in technology fields - where there are still many challenges but also full of opportunities in the digital transformation era.
