- More than 7,000 people from more than 2,000 households in the communes of Tan Tien, That Khe, and Trang Dinh (downstream of Bac Khe 1 Hydropower Dam) were urgently evacuated to safety on the night of October 7 after the dam broke and record floods.
On October 6 and 7, the incident and major flood caused the water level to rise suddenly, inundating 2-3 meters deep in many residential areas, seriously threatening the lives of people in the communes of Tan Tien, That Khe, and Trang Dinh.
Immediately after receiving the emergency evacuation order from the Civil Defense Command of Lang Son province, the armed forces, police, and militia were mobilized to the maximum. Rescue forces used boats and rafts to reach deeply flooded areas, isolated them, and assisted people in moving necessary assets. Thereby, on the night of October 7, more than 7,000 people from more than 2,000 households in the communes of Tan Tien, That Khe, and Trang Dinh (downstream of Bac Khe 1 Hydropower Dam) were urgently evacuated to a safe place.

Thanks to proactive and prompt response work, no human casualties have been recorded so far.
Currently, all residents have been arranged safe temporary shelters in cultural houses and schools. Local authorities are focusing all resources to stabilize people's lives, providing adequate food, drinking water and essential necessities for the people. Recovery work is being prepared to be deployed as soon as the water recedes.
