In particular, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) of Cao Bang province is always the core force in the work of preserving and developing culture, sports and tourism; constantly striving to carry out the mission of "Bringing Cao Bang's identity further and further", contributing to creating new momentum and a sustainable foundation for the province's socio -economic development.

Diverse cultural and tourism potential

With a deep understanding that "Culture is the spiritual foundation of society, the goal and driving force for development", the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has innovated its management thinking, effectively organized the task of preserving, promoting and disseminating traditional cultural values associated with tourism development. Cao Bang currently has 271 relics, of which 103 have been ranked, including: 03 special national relics: Pac Bo relic site, Tran Hung Dao forest, 1950 Border Victory Site; 26 national relics; 74 provincial relics; 02 national treasures. Regarding intangible cultural heritage, the province has over 2,000 heritages, including 07 national intangible cultural heritages. In particular, "Then practice of the Tay people in Cao Bang " has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, the pride of the province and the Vietnamese people.

Cao Bang is famous for its majestic natural landscapes such as Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao Cave, Mat Than Nui, Thang Hen Lake and its fascinating underground cave system. Rare biological reserves such as Cao Vit Gibbon Conservation Area (Trung Khanh) and Phja Oac - Phja Den National Park (Nguyen Binh) with its mossy forests and biodiversity (more than 90 species of plants and 58 species of rare animals) make Cao Bang an attractive destination for ecotourism, community tourism, exploration and experience.

In particular, Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Geopark with an area of over 3,683km2 and nearly 200 heritage sites and four experience routes, has opened up many new opportunities, making positive and effective contributions to the local tourism industry. Thanks to diverse and unique tourism products associated with history, revolution, ethnic culture and natural environment, Cao Bang has initially affirmed its position, image and brand as one of the attractive and unique tourist destinations, ranked in the top 7 best destinations in Southeast Asia in 2025 by Lonely Planet Magazine.

Preservation and promotion of cultural values associated with tourism development

Over the years, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has constantly innovated its thinking and working methods, taking indigenous culture as the center and "material" for many community development activities. The work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values has been effectively implemented through programs, projects and plans. Every year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinates with units and People's Committees of districts and cities to carry out inventories, open training classes and seminars to orient, preserve and promote traditional cultural values of ethnic groups associated with tourism development.

Heritages such as language, writing, folk performing arts, customs, and traditional festivals of ethnic minorities are always studied, and solutions for conservation and effective promotion are proposed. The system of historical and revolutionary relics, cultural relics, and scenic spots are regularly restored and embellished. Cultural values, literature and art; folk songs, folk music, and traditional folk dances are studied, collected, restored, and their values promoted.

Cao Bang is currently focusing on developing green, sustainable tourism associated with protecting the ecological environment and preserving national cultural identity. The province builds unique tourism products, developing in a sustainable direction based on community and identity. Community tourism destinations have been exploited, promoting traditional cultural values, attracting visitors to visit and experience such as: Khuoi Ky stone village (Trung Khanh district); Hoai Khao (Nguyen Binh district); Pac Rang, Phuc Sen and Ban Giuong, Tien Thanh (Quang Hoa district); Khuoi Khon, Kim Cuc (Bao Lac district); 9-room stilt house tourist attraction, Tuc Nga hamlet (Thach An district); Nam Ngua hamlet tourist attraction (Ha Quang district); The province also invests in preserving traditional Tay ethnic cultural villages such as Ban Giuong, Tien Thanh (Quang Hoa district).

Effectively exploiting the resources of Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark to develop ecological, experiential, and historical tours, effectively exploiting 04 experiential tourism routes, contributing to changing the mindset and awareness of tourism, promoting the responsible participation of economic sectors, creating a strong transformation in quality and quantity in tourism and service activities.

In addition to the main product lines, the province focuses on building and developing unique tourism types and products, imbued with national cultural identity, suitable for the market. Folk festivals have been restored and some new annual festivals are held periodically such as: Pac Bo Return to the Source Festival (Ha Quang district), Quang Uyen Town Cannon Shooting Festival, Nang Hai Festival in Tien Thanh Commune (Quang Hoa district), Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival (Trung Khanh district), creating highlights to attract tourists.

The agricultural tourism model is also being developed with the experience of strawberry gardens, vineyards, tea hills and native plants and flowers. The province has actively invested in and exploited many new and interesting tourism products such as kayaking, trekking, mountain climbing, cave exploration, paragliding... In addition, the cultural, sports and culinary spaces at Kim Dong walking street, Bang riverside walking street (City), Bao Lac town night market (Bao Lac district), Thong Nong town night market (Ha Quang district) have contributed to creating more unique highlights, meeting the needs of tourists for night tourism.

Tourism promotion is increasingly being paid attention to and promoted with many diverse and rich forms. Cao Bang has hosted many large-scale tourism events, some of which were organized for the first time and created strong effects and spread such as: Cao Bang Non Nuoc Tourism Festival in Hanoi (2023), Conference on Introducing Cao Bang as a Connecting and Developing Destination at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2023), Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourism Festival, Pac Bo Return to the Source Festival every year; The 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network in the Asia-Pacific region; In coordination with the Department of Culture, Communications, Sports and Tourism of Baise City, Guangxi (China) announced the tourist route Cao Bang City (Vietnam) - Baise City, Guangxi (China) and vice versa... In particular, the operation of the Ban Gioc Waterfall Scenic Area (Vietnam) - Detian (China) from October 15, 2024 has opened up a breakthrough in cross-border tourism cooperation.

In addition, Cao Bang actively participates in promotion and advertising activities in provinces and cities in the country such as: Participating in tourism development linkage activities with 08 provinces in the Northeast region and Ho Chi Minh City, the 21st Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival in 2025, summarizing tourism development linkage between Ho Chi Minh City and the Northeast provinces in the period of 2024 - 2025, the exhibition "Tourism space, cultural heritage, scenic spots and traditional handicrafts of Vietnam" within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, the activity "Cultural colors of Vietnamese ethnic groups" at the Cultural - Tourism Village of Vietnamese ethnic groups. Thereby, gradually affirming the Cao Bang tourism brand "Destination of nature, history and identity".

Tourism promotion is promoted through the application of digital technology platforms, social networks, digitization of tourism publications; tourism data digitization system, virtual reality, 3D tourism experience.
