Speaking with reporters, Ms. Vuong Thi Hai Yen - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa said that after receiving information about the appearance of 4 dragon mascots at the Tien Trang beach tourist site in Quang Xuong district, which were considered to be unaesthetic, the Department coordinated with local authorities to verify and clarify.

According to Ms. Yen, this is a work of art, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, works that must be licensed are monuments and large paintings. Meanwhile, for works of art (dragon mascots), there are no regulations related to licensing or procedures.

The dragon's tail looks like an oar.

However, regarding public opinion information, the Department still has to check to have measures to remind and correct.

Mr. Bui Sy Hao, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Quang Xuong district, said that culturally, the company erected the mascot on their land, not in a public place, so it is not a project that requires a license.

According to Mr. Hao, the department is currently reporting to the district leaders to coordinate with the economic infrastructure department to inspect the construction permit issue. At the same time, the planning will be reviewed to see if there is a cultural facility in that location. Only after the coordination inspection will there be a direction for handling.

During the 2023 Lunar New Year, this unit also made a cat statue but was criticized for looking like a "shrew". Previously, during the 2022 Lunar New Year, a tiger mascot also appeared here but caused a stir on social networks because it looked like a roasted pig.

Currently, these "strange" mascots are still displayed in the tourist area of SOTO company.
