The exhibition welcomes visitors with 40 completely nude artists.
The conceptual performance exhibition "Marina Abramović" currently taking place at the Royal Academy of Arts (London, UK) is a controversial topic with mixed public opinions.
At the exhibition, there were more than 40 nude artists performing different acts, especially the Imponderabilia act that appeared right at the entrance of the exhibition. The organizers said that the nude element was used as a way to express conceptual art.
Therefore, the fact that the audience must pass through two rows of nude artists at the entrance to be able to enter the exhibition is described as "causing the public, as soon as they step through the entrance of the exhibition, to be confronted with topics such as nudity, gender, sexuality..." as shared by the organizers.
In addition to the two nude male and female artists standing at the exhibition door, artist Marina Abramović also arranged other conceptual performances that also included nude elements, such as nude work next to a skeleton. The performance was introduced as "bringing back a perspective on life and death, on the cycle of birth and death of creatures in nature, including humans".
Author John James of the Daily Mail (UK) said that although he is not a shy person, when he was present at this exhibition, he had to constantly apologize to the artists because he felt so embarrassed.
"This must be art, sure, but what is art really?" - commented author John James. John James admitted that when he stood before the performance of the body-to-bone performance, he did not understand anything as profound as the introduction surrounding the performance. Instinctively, when he stood before this performance, he only felt... fear.
And author Laura Cumming of The Guardian (UK) commented: "We have gone through millions of years of evolution, gone through impressive civilizations, to today, we get to see... this performance."

The performances have many layers of meaning, but the audience claims they "don't understand anything."
Serbian conceptual artist Marina Abramović (76 years old) has always performed conceptual art performances that are shocking and even controversial. Marina has performed art performances with shocking elements such as nudity, fake blood, and props such as knives, guns, bullets, etc. The public is always shocked by the exhibitions that this Serbian conceptual artist has performed.
"When coming to an exhibition with such a dense nudity element, instead of admiring the beauty of the human body in the paintings, viewers will admire that beauty... visually" - the public commented. And this is what makes the exhibition of the 76-year-old Serbian conceptualist controversial.
