Exciting Asian women's beach volleyball tournament on Tuy Hoa beach

On April 25, at Binh Kien beach (Tuy Hoa city), the Asian Volleyball Federation coordinated with the People's Committee of Phu Yen province and Cong May Joint Stock Company to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 Asian women's beach volleyball tournament.

This year's tournament brings together 44 athletes from 22 teams of 10 countries and territories, including: Vietnam, Australia, Japan, Thailand, China, Malaysia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Vanuatu and Hong Kong.

Host Vietnam is participating with 4 teams, including 8 key athletes preparing for the 33rd SEA Games. This is an important opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to gain experience, compete with international opponents, thereby improving their professional quality.

The teams are divided into 8 groups, playing a round robin to determine the first and second teams to enter the round of 16. From here, the matches will take place in a knockout format to select 4 teams to enter the semi-finals and final.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh , Head of Beach Volleyball Department (Vietnam Volleyball Federation), said: “The 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship is one of the 6 official tournaments in the Asian Volleyball Federation's competition system. In addition to the attractive prize money, excellent athletes will also accumulate points to register for the next tournaments.”

According to Mr. Binh, compared to the previous tournament held in Can Tho in 2019, this year's tournament is larger in scale, with 4 more teams and the professional quality is also considered higher.

This is the first time Phu Yen province has organized a regional beach volleyball tournament, considered an important international sporting event. According to the organizing committee, the selection of Phu Yen as the destination for this tournament shows that the locality has met the standards of facilities, competition conditions and logistics services as required by the Asian Volleyball Federation.

Not only a sporting event, the 2025 Asian Women's Beach Volleyball Championship is also an opportunity for Phu Yen to promote its image of blue sea and white sand tourism to international friends. Hundreds of fans, tourists and locals were present at Binh Kien beach to cheer, creating a vibrant atmosphere on the first day of competition.
