Early adjustment of Long Thanh airport project phase 1

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Construction to coordinate with the Government Office to review and complete the draft decision approving adjustments to the investment project to build Long Thanh airport phase 1.

Regarding the completion of the draft decision to adjust the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just requested the Ministry of Construction to urgently coordinate with the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and relevant agencies to unify, complete and report to the Deputy Prime Minister at the Working Group meeting with the following contents: adjusting the land area, infrastructure works connecting to hangars 5 and 6 and the contents assigned to ACV to implement.

The Ministry of Construction coordinates with the Government Office to review and finalize the draft decision approving project adjustments.

In particular, note the timelines for completing projects in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction at the previous meeting, do not include content that is not under the Prime Minister's authority, as well as review the writing style and technique of the document.

Relevant agencies urgently implement and report to the Deputy Prime Minister at the Working Group meeting to ensure completion of project adjustment approval by March 14.

Previously, the Ministry of Construction sent a document to the Prime Minister regarding the acceptance and completion of the draft Decision on project adjustment according to the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting on adjusting the investment project to build Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1.

Specifically, the revised draft will invest in the construction of Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 with 2 runways (an increase of 1 runway compared to the Decision approving the investment project to build Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1); 1 passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year; 1.2 million tons of cargo/year.

The scale of investment in construction of phase 1 will include airport infrastructure, construction of 2 runways with a length of 4,000m, width of 75m and a system of taxiways and parking lots to ensure the operation of all types of aircraft to meet the capacity of 25 million passengers/year and 1.2 million tons of cargo/year.

According to the Ministry of Construction, ACV has worked with contractors and suppliers to review and propose solutions to accelerate the basic completion of construction in 2025 and put Long Thanh International Airport into operation in the third quarter of 2026, including the second runway of phase 1.

Currently, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) has committed to ensuring completion in 2025.
