According to records, in the landslide area, thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil fell from the positive slope, causing traffic congestion, making it difficult for people to travel and transport goods on the route.
According to the report of the Department of Construction of Son La province, the volume of landslide is estimated at about 4,000m³, the length of the landslide is 55m, width is 23m, average height is 7m.

Since noon on August 21, traffic on National Highway 4G has been paralyzed. More dangerously, on the slope of the embankment there are still many weathered, cracked, and loose rocks that can continue to slide down at any time, threatening the lives of road users as well as construction workers at the scene.
Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, said: As soon as receiving the information, the Department of Construction directly inspected and assessed the scene, directed the route management unit to urgently put up warning signs, arrange guards, direct traffic flow and prepare means to fix the problem.
Due to the complex terrain and characteristics of the border area, rock blasting is considered a necessary solution to ensure safety during the process of overcoming landslides on National Highway 4G.

Faced with the above urgent situation, the People's Committee of Son La province issued a document directing relevant units to handle the landslide and ensure traffic at Km110+900/QL.4G in Sop Cop commune with the motto of ensuring human safety during the repair and handling process.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province has assigned the Provincial Military Command to deploy specialized forces to carry out blasting and handling of all unstable rocks. Assigned the Department of Construction to coordinate in organizing the repair and clearance of routes, ensuring smooth and safe traffic for people and vehicles. Directed the People's Committee of Sop Cop commune to be responsible for coordinating the notification and propaganda to the people, and promptly resolving difficulties in site clearance work to serve landslide handling.

Currently, the authorities are urgently deploying technical measures at the scene. The demolition and cleanup work is expected to be carried out in parallel with traffic diversion to minimize the impact on traffic and goods transportation.
Son La province is determined to overcome the incident as soon as possible, in order to restore the vital traffic route, ensure safety for people and stabilize life and production in the area.
