To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on April 23rd in Hanoi, President Luong Cuong attended and delivered a keynote speech at the international scientific conference "50 Years of National Reunification: The Peace-Building Role of Diplomacy in History and the Present." In the afternoon of the same day, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly discussed the draft Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies (amended); and considered submitting to the National Assembly the proposal to shorten the term of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term. The meeting discussed the decision on the election date for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term; the establishment of the National Election Council; and opinions on the draft Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Economical and Efficient Energy Use.
