Duc Xuan Ward Youth Union coordinated with other forces to support people in demolishing old houses. |
Mr. Nguyen Van Phong’s family in Khau Ca village, Cam Giang commune, is a poor household that received government support to demolish their temporary, dilapidated house. As a single-parent household with difficult circumstances, hiring transporters and workers to build a house is a difficult problem for Mr. Phong.
Responding to the movement of union members and young people participating in supporting the demolition of temporary houses, the Youth Union of Cam Giang commune used motorbikes to transport materials, support digging foundations, mixing mortar, pouring concrete, and roofing houses for families.
Mr. Ban Phuc Dat, a member of the Cam Giang Commune Youth Union, shared: When the Commune Youth Union mobilized to support working days to help single-parent families build houses, we were very willing. How can our locality develop more, so that no more households have to live in dilapidated houses?
Looking at the house foundation dug and poured with solid concrete, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong was moved and shared: Even though the State supported money to buy materials to build the house, if I only relied on myself, the house could not be finished.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hoai, Secretary of the Cam Giang Commune Youth Union, added: Cam Giang Commune has 102 households supported to remove temporary and dilapidated houses. Currently, 88 houses have been completed, 14 houses have started construction and are in the process of completion. Cam Giang Commune Youth Union has helped 18 households, performing tasks such as dismantling old houses, digging foundations, leveling the ground, transporting materials, and participating in house construction. The Commune Youth Union also mobilized support from benefactors and businesses to further help households speed up the progress of building new houses.
Since April 2025, Thai Nguyen province (before the merger) has completed the goal of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses and housing support for people with meritorious services. At the same time, Bac Kan province (before the merger) also implemented a plan to eliminate temporary houses for 4,979 households, including 235 households of people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs, the rest are poor and near-poor households living in mountainous areas.
After the merger, the province's goal is to continue to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for all families on the support list in the northern communes. To contribute to speeding up the progress, Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union has launched a peak period of supporting working days to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 100% of the Youth Union's bases in 37 communes.
Since the beginning of July, thousands of union members and young people in the northern communes have contributed over 2,000 working days, focusing on specific tasks such as: dismantling old houses, transporting materials, leveling the ground, digging foundations, building walls, roofing... In addition, many grassroots unions have also mobilized businesses to support materials such as cement, steel, sand and stone, contributing to reducing construction costs for households.
