Previously, from the early morning of December 26, due to the temperature dropping to -3 degrees Celsius, frost appeared on Fansipan peak at an altitude of over 2,000 to over 3,000 meters above sea level.
According to meteorological experts, the cause of this phenomenon is that from the night of December 25 to the morning of December 26, cold air affected the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, causing the sky to be less cloudy, causing large ground-level heat radiation, causing the temperature to drop sharply.
The entire Fansipan peak area has temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius and frost forms.
People who were present on Fansipan Mountain and directly observed said that the frost occurred at an average intensity and covered everything in white. In some places, the frost condensed into a thick layer, creating a very beautiful image.
This is the fifth frost to appear on Fansipan Mountain since the beginning of November. It is forecasted that the temperature at the top of Fansipan will remain low until the morning of December 27, with the possibility of frost continuing to occur.
Frost creates a fascinating scene for tourists visiting Sa Pa, but it is an extreme weather phenomenon that causes significant damage to agricultural production in the highlands of Lao Cai province.
Therefore, Lao Cai provincial authorities recommend that people proactively prevent and combat cold damage to crops and livestock, minimizing the negative effects caused by frost.
