Allkpop reported on July 15 that the organizers of the Waterbomb Osaka 2023 music festival announced the cancellation of the event scheduled to take place from July 15-16 at Maishima Sports Island (Japan).

"A serious accident occurred during the construction of the stage for the event in Osaka. Therefore, we would like to announce the cancellation of Waterbomb Osaka 2023," the Organizing Committee's announcement stated.
The organizers added that a male employee (about 40 years old) was hit in the head by water from a water jet at a speed of about 120 km/h. This person was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state but later died.
The organizers apologized to the audience for the event not being able to take place, and committed to fully refunding tickets: “We apologize for the inconvenience caused to customers and related people. We will take responsibility and work to prevent recurrence.”
Currently, the police have intervened to clarify the incident.
The two events Waterbomb Nagoya 2023 and Waterbomb Tokyo 2023 within the framework of Waterbomb Japan 2023 will still take place on July 22-23 and July 29-30 as planned.

Previously, a list of Kpop artists such as Kwon Eun Bi, Jay Park, Daesung (Bigbang), Nichkhun - Jun.K (2PM), Jessi, Yugyeom, Baekho, Mamamooo, Stayc... have confirmed their performances at Waterbomb Osaka 2023.
In particular, for Daesung, the event marked his first stage appearance since his discharge from the military.
“My first feeling is happiness to be performing on stage again. Actually, I am also very nervous, but I will try my best to complete it perfectly!”, Daesung said before his return to the stage.
It is understood that he is still confirmed to perform at two events in Nagoya and Tokyo.
Waterbomb is a popular annual summer music festival that started in South Korea in 2015 and has since expanded to other locations across Asia. It is a massive festival for audiences aged 19 and over, featuring a wide range of popular artists.
The event focuses on hip-hop and EDM music, taking place annually at the end of July every year.
