Quoc Cuong is the cousin of striker Cong Phuong. The midfielder born in 2004 was introduced by Cong Phuong to the HAGL Football Academy, which is led by coach Guillaume Graechen.
Quoc Cuong regularly plays for HAGL's youth team in the national U.19 tournament. When coach Graechen moved to work at Nutifood JMG Academy, Quoc Cuong and players like Nguyen Quoc Viet, Nguyen Thanh Khoi, Hoang Vinh Nguyen... also followed. This player is currently playing for Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club.

Before the training session on the morning of August 25, Quoc Cuong shared: "This training session is mostly young players, so Coach Troussier mainly lets everyone get acquainted with the philosophy and tactics he sets out. I feel excited and look forward to working with Coach Troussier, learning from his experiences and teammates.
Before joining the U.23 team, I watched the matches of the team participating in the 32nd SEA Games and the exercises of Coach Troussier. I learned how to receive the ball, how to move and how to communicate with teammates on the field. Because Coach Troussier is very meticulous in every small detail, even though it was difficult, we still had to try to get in the rhythm to practice."
Talking about the competition in U.23 Vietnam, Quoc Cuong shared: "Everyone who joins the team wants to have the best position and have the opportunity to participate in future tournaments."
In this training session, there are 4 Vietnamese players practicing with the U.23 Vietnam team to maintain their fitness after completing the V-League season at the club level, including Que Ngoc Hai, Tien Linh, Thanh Binh and Tuan Anh.
"Training with you guys, I learned good things, learned the experiences that you guys had working with Coach Troussier. Most of the players called up are young, so first of all, you guys showed us how to have the best spirit, the most comfortable to practice with the Coach," said Quoc Cuong.
Young player Quoc Cuong also received valuable advice from Cong Phuong and Tuan Anh: "I have met Tuan Anh at HAGL. We met and greeted each other. Tuan Anh also advised and encouraged me to practice hard. He told me some things to keep in mind when practicing with Coach Troussier, about how to pass the ball and how to receive the ball. The time I joined the U.23 team was an opportunity for me to try to show Coach Troussier, so Cong Phuong encouraged me, asked me questions, and told me to try to show my best."

Besides Quoc Cuong, goalkeeper Doan Huy Hoang is also a notable face. Huy Hoang played at SEA Games 32 and was highly appreciated for his ability to judge and choose positions.
Goalkeeper Doan Huy Hoang shared: "I feel very happy and honored to be able to join the U.23 Vietnam team to prepare for the upcoming U.23 Asian qualifiers. Myself and the whole team need to try harder to prepare for the upcoming tournament.
I am young. To be able to accompany you guys in the national team is very beneficial. I learned a lot, which helps me become more myself in the future. Each coach has a different philosophy. So do the players. Players will have to make an effort to follow the training plan and requirements set by the coach.
The coach requires expertise. I myself always go on the field with a spirit of 100% effort to practice. Through the first practice session, I saw that not only me, but the whole team had to try harder in all aspects to be able to meet the coach's requirements. I and everyone still have many shortcomings, so the coaching staff shared and instructed me more. In U.23, there are many good goalkeepers, even more potential than me. But I don't feel much pressure, I just need to go on the field and try with 100% of my strength."
