According to Rasmei News , Mr. Vath Chamroeun assessed that this was an unprofitable SEA Games. Before entering the 32nd SEA Games, the host country announced that it would waive all accommodation and domestic travel expenses for athletes of sports delegations. In addition, they also waived television copyrights and tickets to watch matches. In the final days of the 32nd SEA Games, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen continued to announce free tickets to Angkor Wat for sports delegations.
To explain this, the CAMSOC Secretary General said that the history of the ancient Olympics originated more than 2,000 years ago in Greece. All sports delegations coming to Greece were provided with free meals and transportation. But since the modern Olympics in 1896, the host country began charging delegations to attend. Therefore, Mr. Vath Chamroeun said that what Cambodia has done this year deserves to be recorded in international history.
Mr. Vath Chamroeun said Cambodia deserves to be recognized for its historical contributions.
In his speech, Mr. Vath Chamroeun added that Cambodia will prepare a specific report on this issue and send it to two places: the IOC and the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA). Cambodia wants the 32nd SEA Games to be recorded in the history of the IOC and OCA as an unprecedented event.
Mr. Vath Chamroeun said: “We will make a specific report, send it to the International Olympics and the Asian Olympics to preserve our historical events different from other countries. On behalf of the host country, Cambodia has done many warm things for the international athletes and technical officials during their participation and contribution to the 32nd SEA Games”.
Before making these statements, CAMSOC had repeatedly affirmed that they would prepare carefully to help the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia become one of the most successful games in history. In particular, the opening and closing ceremonies must be carried out to Olympic standards. True to these statements, the host country of the 32nd SEA Games received a shower of compliments from friends in the region as well as internationally after the closing ceremony on May 17.
Cambodia invests heavily in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 32nd SEA Games.
In addition to leaving a good impression in the organization, Cambodia also competed successfully, finishing in 4th place in the overall rankings. The host country's athletes won 81 gold medals, 74 silver medals and 127 bronze medals - their record at the largest sports event in Southeast Asia.
