On December 7, Nghe An Department of Health announced a food poisoning incident at two industrial parks, WHA and VSIP, causing 84 workers to be hospitalized.
After the incident, the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department established an inspection team to go to the scene and companies to verify the incident.
Working with the inspection team, BAC Company has not yet presented the Food Safety Training Certificate, health certificates of 5/11 employees directly involved in food processing; contracts for providing meals to units and contracts for providing food and food ingredients. The 3-step food inspection book and food sample storage book were presented but not recorded properly. The authorities have temporarily suspended this meal supply unit due to many shortcomings.
Doctors examine workers suspected of poisoning.
Initial information, authorities determined that at around 11:30 a.m. on December 6, BAC Trading Joint Stock Company (Hung Dong, Vinh City) provided 1,215 lunches to 3 companies, including Premium Fashion Vietnam Co., Ltd., JTEC Nghe An Co., Ltd. and NAKANO Garment Company.
Lunch included rice, fried silver pomfret, boiled eggs, stir-fried pickles with meat, stir-fried vegetables, braised pork with radish, sour soup and orange for dessert.
After eating, at around 1:00 p.m. the same day, symptoms of poisoning such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever and rash appeared.
By 8 p.m. on December 6, a total of 84 workers had been taken to hospitals for emergency treatment. Of these, 43 had been stabilized and discharged, while 41 patients were still under observation.
NAKANO Garment Company alone did not record any cases of poisoning even though 112 people ate the food.
The inspection team took 7 food samples at BAC Company and 6 food samples at Premium Fashion Vietnam Company to send to the authorities for testing to determine the cause of the incident.
