According to initial information from the Investigation Police Agency, at 11:55 a.m. on May 24, 2025, subject Ho Van Phuong Tam, born on February 10, 1983, current residence: Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City, bought an entrance ticket to the Hue Imperial City.
Then, Ho Van Phuong Tam entered the Thai Hoa Palace area of the Hue Imperial City, climbed over the protective fence inside the palace and sat on the Nguyen Dynasty throne. Tam used his hands to break the left armrest of the Nguyen Dynasty throne and smashed it, causing the armrest to break into many pieces.
At 12:10 p.m. the same day, the Hue Imperial City security force controlled and arrested the subject, and reported to Dong Ba Ward Police to make a record of the arrest of the offender red-handed. A quick drug test was conducted on the subject, and the result was negative.

Immediately upon receiving the information, Hue City Police directed the Hue City Police Investigation Agency to mobilize forces to coordinate with the People's Procuracy of Phu Xuan District and related forces to conduct a crime scene investigation, record statements of the subject, witnesses, and related persons, and conduct investigation activities.
However, it is not yet possible to record the suspect's statement because he is showing signs of mental illness and is talking nonsense, unable to answer the investigator's questions.
It is known that the damaged property in the Thai Hoa Palace area - Hue Imperial City that Tam did is called "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", recognized by the Prime Minister as a National Treasure.
According to the Investigation Police Agency of Hue City Police, the subject Ho Van Phuong Tam was born in Huong Long ward, Phu Xuan district (Hue city).
In 1990, Ho Van Phuong Tam followed his family to live in Ho Chi Minh City. However, in Ho Chi Minh City, Tam did not live with his family but rented a separate place to live, frequently changing his place of residence.

Around mid-May 2025, Ho Van Phuong Tam returned to Hue and asked to live at a relative's house (her aunt) in Alley 28, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street, Huong Long Ward, but was not allowed to do so, so the subject lived a vagrant life.
Currently, the Hue City Police Investigation Agency is coordinating with the People's Procuracy of Phu Xuan District and relevant agencies to collect documents and evidence to clarify and resolve the case in accordance with legal procedures and regulations.
