Regional connectivity through livestream: The power of a practical digital media model
On May 24, at the Lai Chau Provincial Conference Center, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) coordinated with the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, TikTok Vietnam, and the Vietnam Youth Startup Support Center (SYS Vietnam) - under the Vietnam Youth Union to organize a series of activities "Promoting regional linkages in e-commerce development - Enhancing products in the Northern Midlands and Mountains".
The highlight of the event is a series of livestream sessions promoting Lai Chau province's signature products on TikTok Shop, bringing together more than 40 OCOP products and local specialties.
In the morning session of May 24 alone, with the participation of KOLs such as Mai Tay Bac, Tu Nong San, Anh Bo Doai..., business household Phin Thi Chien (Muong Te district) closed more than 260 orders, reaching revenue of nearly 100 million VND in 30 minutes - an unimaginable number for a household participating in e-commerce for the first time.
The campaign reached 783,000 live views, reached 30 million users and generated 300 million VND in actual revenue. The hashtag #NongSanLaiChau recorded more than 50 million impressions.
When Digital Media Meets Digital Economy : New Opportunities for Local Products
According to Ms. Le Hoang Oanh, Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, the gap in e-commerce between regions is still large, especially in mountainous provinces, where there is a lack of logistics infrastructure, digital skills and market connections.
Livestreaming and e-commerce platforms like TikTok Shop are proving to be an effective bridge, both promoting local products and building regional brands quickly and economically.
This is not just a trade promotion, but a community digital media model, where KOLs, TikTokers, the press and the government join hands to be "storytellers" for local products, in real time, interacting directly with thousands of users.

SYS Vietnam: From livestream to AI class for the community
SYS Vietnam's role does not stop at event organization. This unit is currently leading the Project "Improving digital business capacity for 20 million Vietnamese youth", in collaboration with TikTok Vietnam and Nhan Dan Newspaper.
In addition to supporting sales via livestream, SYS also provides practical training on building personal digital brands, operating e-commerce stores, optimizing short content on social networks...
In particular, SYS Vietnam is operating the community project "Digital literacy - Learning AI together", organizing free weekly classes via Zoom, helping young people and people easily access basic knowledge about artificial intelligence, applying technology to production and real business.
“We aim for a dual goal: Not only supporting the consumption of local specialties, but also enhancing digital capacity and proactively mastering technology platforms for people right from the community,” shared a representative of SYS Vietnam.

Connecting 3 forces: Public-private-digital community
The livestream series “Proud of Vietnamese products in Lai Chau province” is a typical example of a combined digital media model, where three main forces - state agencies, social organizations and platform businesses - coordinate with content creators to activate local commerce naturally and effectively.
The success in Lai Chau shows that this model can be completely replicated in other regions, becoming a suitable e-commerce promotion tool for rural, mountainous, and remote areas in Vietnam's digital economic development strategy.
Livestream is no longer just an entertainment tool, but is becoming the most effective digital economic promotion infrastructure for rural Vietnam. (Excerpt from comments from digital media experts of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association)
