Fostering and strengthening the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia

On behalf of the Party and State, President Luong Cuong respectfully expressed his thanks to King Norodom Sihamoni; President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the Senate Hun Sen and senior Cambodian leaders for sending their deep condolences and sending a delegation to pay their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong, demonstrating the sincere affection and attachment that Cambodia has for Vietnam and former President Tran Duc Luong personally.

The President emphasized that during his lifetime, former President Tran Duc Luong always focused on promoting the solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. He believed that with the foundation of the good traditional relationship built by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, including the role of former President Tran Duc Luong, the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship would continue to develop sustainably and increasingly effectively, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Madam Men Sam On sincerely thanked President Luong Cuong for taking the time to receive the delegation and conveyed her deepest condolences to the Party, State, people of Vietnam, and the family of former President Tran Duc Luong, expressing her respect for former President Tran Duc Luong as a prestigious leader who made important contributions to the cause of building and developing Vietnam. She affirmed that Cambodia will always remember and appreciate the great contributions of the former President in promoting the good friendship between the two countries and peoples.

The President highly appreciated the role and important contributions of Ms. Men Sam On to fostering and consolidating the friendship and solidarity between the people of the two countries, hoping that with her deep affection for the country and people of Vietnam, Ms. Men Sam On will continue to contribute to promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Ms. Men Sam On expressed her emotion when listening to the eulogy of President Luong Cuong at the memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong; reiterating the support and assistance to Cambodia by generations of Vietnamese leaders and people, affirming that without Vietnam's help, there would be no Cambodia today.

Regarding measures to promote Vietnam-Cambodia relations in the coming time, the two sides agreed to actively implement the contents agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders at the meetings between the three heads of the three parties of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos in February 2025 and on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day recently.

The two sides also highlighted the importance of traditional values, solidarity, and mutual sacrifice between Vietnam - Cambodia and Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos, especially in the context of the current volatile regional and world situation; the relationship between the two and three countries has overcome the test of time, continued to develop for the benefit of each country, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Ms. Men Sam On congratulated Vietnam on its development achievements and firmly believed that Vietnam would achieve the goals set by the Party and State of Vietnam, including the immediate goal of becoming a modern industrialized country with high average income by 2030 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and becoming a developed socialist country with high income by 2045 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country.
