Specifically, a source from The Elec said that Samsung has begun mass production of four different types of OLED display panels to supply the iPhone 15 product line.
Besides Samsung, Apple is also said to have signed contracts with two other companies, LG and BOE, to produce screens for the iPhone 15. However, these two companies have not yet started producing screen panels.
The reason is that LG is making some necessary improvements on the display panel to meet Apple's requirements. LG's mass production is expected to begin soon.
Meanwhile, display manufacturer BOE has been having issues with its display glass. In March, Apple withdrew orders from BOE and handed them all over to Samsung.
Therefore, BOE will not supply Apple with any screens in the first batch of products for the iPhone 15 series. In fact, BOE may not even receive any orders from Apple until next year.
According to The Elec , iPhone Pro models have accounted for 50-60% of iPhone shipments in the past 2-3 years. Therefore, Apple will focus more on producing Pro product lines, instead of standard versions.
