I often take cold showers after being out in the sun. Doctor, can this lifestyle cause a stroke? (Hung, 29 years old, Ho Chi Minh City)

Hot weather makes many people think of taking a bath right away to cool down the body, clean the sweat, and relax. However, be careful because this can cause the risk of stroke, or even a cold. The reason is that when you come back from the sun, your body sweats and releases heat. Taking a bath right away will clog your pores, and the sweat will not be able to escape, reducing your body temperature, and you will easily catch a cold.
In particular, when the capillaries are dilating to radiate heat, the body encounters cold water, the external blood vessels automatically contract, causing blood pressure to increase, leading to the risk of stroke.
You should wait at least 20-30 minutes for the sweat to dry before bathing. During this time, you should apply some ways to feel more comfortable, first is to continuously replenish water for the body, drink in sips and divide the drinking time evenly, do not drink too much water at once. Do not drink too much ice because in the long term it will affect the mucous membrane of the throat and digestive tract.
You should stay at home to rest, drink a glass of cool water or smoothie, eat fruit. Do not let the fan or air conditioner blow directly on your body to avoid sudden temperature changes. When bathing, do not pour water from above your head, but wet your feet and hands first.
