Night 6 of the Say Hi Brother concert took place in the rain and wind, but the audience still stayed until the end - Photo: Producer
HIEUTHUHAI said at the end of the 6th night of the Anh trai say hi concert on the evening of May 10 at My Dinh Stadium ( Hanoi ).
HIEUTHUHAI: "People will say..."
As he said that, HIEUTHUHAI's eyes filled with tears. He cried because this was the last night of season 1.
And in the pouring rain that MC Tran Thanh said was "a devastating rain, like a flood", the audience of 30 brothers was still there cheering and singing along. At the end of the concert, they still stood there to listen to the artists they admired say goodbye.
HIEUTHUHAI did not say that for no reason. This is not the first time we have heard that proposition.
Not only in Anh trai say hi or Anh trai vu ngan cong gai - the two hottest shows from last year to this year attracting record numbers of audiences and fandoms, but also in many concerts in particular as well as current cultural and entertainment consumption activities.
When "following" idols, young people are often labeled as "immature", "shallow", "inexperienced", "blind", and even have hurtful words like "crazy", "brain dead"...

Many people don’t understand why there are crazy fans, why they have to line up the night before to get a good spot at a concert. They also don’t understand why some young people can’t sleep at night just by looking at their idols from afar or smiling at them.
Although idol culture has many negative aspects, whether we like it or not, it cannot be denied that it is becoming a cultural feature of the contemporary flow.
In Korea or Japan, there is a whole economy called "fandom economy". Not only does it develop domestically, they also export that economy to other countries.
9 year old Kem goes to concert

Among the crowd going to the Anh trai say hi concert on the evening of May 10, there were some young audience members (over 8 years old) going with their relatives.
Among them is Hoang Bao An (also known as Kem, 9 years old, living in Yen Hoa, Cau Giay, Hanoi). He is a big fan of "uncle" Quang Hung MasterD.
Before this concert, my mother had taken me to many events organized by my uncle's fandom, so the uncles and aunts in the fanclub were no strangers to this young audience.
Kem told Tuoi Tre that when watching the game show Anh trai say hi episode 1, she liked Quang Hung because "he sings well, dances well, is friendly, and is also handsome".
Kem said, "I looked back at some of your videos when you weren't famous yet, performing on the street with very few viewers, but you still tried and persevered with your passion, so I really admire you.
There are times when I'm lazy, thinking about you, I try harder.
Seeing his uncle famous, singing on a big stage, Kem was happy. The day Quang Hung MasterD held a fan meeting in Hanoi, Kem got to shake hands with him. When leaving, his mother asked why he was crying, Kem said "because I was so emotional".
"Suppose someone said you're too young to know anything about it", what would you say? "Why would they say that, auntie? It's great", the little girl asked back. During the concert, Kem enthusiastically sang along to many of the program's songs, especially Uncle Hung's songs.
Kem's mother said that last night when she came back from the concert, she couldn't sleep because "she was still so excited". She told her mother a lot about the concert that just ended.
Kem and audiences like Kem will be the big customers of the entertainment industry today and in the future, not "them" or "them". It is this new audience that will decide the face of Vietnamese music today and in the near future.

The Dawn of the Show Industry
"Why do they say that, auntie?" - the 9-year-old fan's question was like an answer, connecting to HIEUTHUHAI's story above.
In Vietnam, idol culture is growing day by day. For the 7X-8X generation, the love stops at listening and watching artists from afar, but with the 9X generation, especially 2K2, they express that feeling more directly, they are willing to "spend" on their passion and are happy because of it.

For our fathers, uncles and elders, a meal with meat was enough. For today's youth, they seek more than that, especially spiritual values and as HIEUTHUHAI said, they will be the generation that "determines" their own happiness.
Understanding the differences is the only way to bridge the generation gap in a contextual entertainment culture like Vietnam and grasp the dawn of the Vietnamese performance industry, at least at present and in the near future.
