Authorized by President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Foreign Affairs Minister Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa received and worked with Comrade Pham Tat Thang and Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria Bui Quoc Hung. The delegation also visited and held talks with Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Samuel Anyanwu.


Comrade Pham Tat Thang presented a souvenir to the leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Secretary of State for the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa.

Speaking at the meetings and working sessions, Comrade Pham Tat Thang congratulated the APC Party on its victory in the general election in early 2023 as well as Nigeria's achievements in economic development, security and political stability in recent years; highly appreciated Nigeria's position and role in addressing common challenges in the region and the world. Comrade Pham Tat Thang also emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Nigeria; hopes that the two sides will promote the exchange of experiences in leadership, national management, Party building and solving socio-economic issues; prioritize promoting trade, economic and investment activities, creating conditions for businesses of the two countries to access the market; encourage friendship and cooperation between mass organizations.

The Nigerian leaders welcomed the delegation's visit; affirmed the importance of friendship and cooperation with Vietnam; expressed their strong impression of Vietnam's recent achievements in economic and social development. The Nigerian leaders also believed that the Vietnamese people, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, would gain more victories in the coming time; and expressed their desire to deepen bilateral cooperation in the political and diplomatic fields, respond to non-traditional security challenges, expand economic cooperation in areas of potential for both sides, and strengthen the connection between the Communist Party of Vietnam and political parties in Nigeria.

The two sides shared with each other the political, economic and social situation of each country; highly appreciated the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times; agreed on many specific measures to promote bilateral relations such as increasing delegation exchanges at all levels; continuing to closely coordinate at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the African Union; and perfecting legal mechanisms and institutions to promote increasingly substantive and effective bilateral cooperation.

During the visit, the Party delegation also visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Nigeria.
