Strengthening Vietnam-Cuba brotherly friendship

NDO - On the evening of December 6, in Hanoi, the Cuban Embassy held a reception to celebrate the 67th anniversary of the landing of the Granma ship and the establishment of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (December 2, 1956 - December 2, 2023), and the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2023).

Attending the event were Major General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense ; Colonel Roman Jimenez Ortega, Cuban military, naval and air force attaché in Vietnam; Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Hernandez Guillen, along with comrades from the Vietnam People's Army, military attachés from other countries and representatives of the Party, Government, and Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association.

Speaking at the event, Major General Pham Truong Son recalled the event of the Granma ship carrying 82 Cuban soldiers led by leader Fidel Castro landing on the Cuban beach, emphasizing that it was a historical milestone, a symbol of strong encouragement for the struggle for independence and freedom of the Latin American people in general and the Cuban people in particular, leading the Island of Freedom to success in the national democratic revolution, ending 5 centuries of colonial domination and gaining independence and freedom for the country. The Deputy Chief of the General Staff sent his sincere wishes on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, hoping that Cuban comrades and colleagues will continue to achieve more impressive achievements in their glorious career, firmly protecting the regime, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Fatherland, making an important contribution to the cause of building socialism in the beautiful country of Cuba. Comrade Pham Truong Son affirmed that, along with the good development in all areas of the bilateral relationship, the relationship between the Vietnam People's Army and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces has always been of interest to generations of leaders of the Party, Government and Ministry of National Defense to consolidate, promote, and further enhance the special traditional friendship between the two countries. "As close friends and comrades, the Party, State, people and the Vietnam People's Army will continue to unite, support and stand side by side with the people and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in the struggle for peace , national independence and socialism," Major General Pham Truong Son concluded.

Sharing his opinion at the ceremony, Colonel Roman Jimenez Ortega reviewed several memorable milestones in the formation and development of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces throughout 67 years of history. He emphasized that 2023 is a special year for the Vietnam - Cuba bilateral relationship with many delegation exchanges between the two countries, along with the continuous development of political , economic, and trade cooperation relations, for the benefit of the people of the two countries. On behalf of the soldiers of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, Colonel Roman Jimenez Ortega expressed his sincere thanks to the Government and people of Vietnam, especially the Ministry of National Defense, for helping Cuba in training and developing military skills. He believed that the relationship between the two countries' armies would be increasingly strengthened. Although they are small countries, Cuba and Vietnam have in common a long tradition of fighting, with powerful armies, because both countries possess the largest army, which is the strength of the nation. At the reception, the delegates raised their glasses, wishing that the Vietnam-Cuba brotherly friendship and solidarity will always be strong and develop, in accordance with the interests of the people of the two countries, contributing positively to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
