Within the framework of Project 8, the Cao Bang Provincial Women's Union organized 238 policy dialogue conferences at the commune and hamlet levels, attracting more than 4,000 opinions from women members.
Since then, ethnic minority women have boldly discussed and proposed to their husbands, boldly borrowing capital to develop the economy.
Many women have proactively invested in barns, breeds, livestock, and crops, actively participated in agricultural restructuring, researched and produced products that are the strengths of the locality, and became OCOP products that are promoted and consumed. Thereby helping women have a more stable economic life, helping them to rise up and become rich legitimately.
Key actors in local livelihood development
To increase the economic power of ethnic minority women to sustainably reduce poverty, Ms. Le Thi Hoan - Deputy Chief Inspector of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Bac Giang province said that it is necessary to effectively implement specific policies that are sensitive to gender and ethnicity. Policies must be designed based on substantive consultation with ethnic minority women, taking into account the cultural, linguistic and living conditions of each ethnic group and each region.
Ms. Hoan also believes that it is necessary to invest heavily in education, vocational training and comprehensive capacity building for ethnic minority women such as business ability, creating surplus from local products... This is the key to women's autonomy and confidence to develop sustainable local livelihoods.
