Unlike Ha Long Bay, which has been well-invested and is known to many tourists, Bai Tu Long Bay still retains its pristine beauty with little human impact, especially Bai Tu Long National Park. These are ideal conditions for developing eco -tourism , experiential tourism combined with nature conservation. In order to effectively exploit this potential, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province issued Decision No. 2119/QD-UBND dated July 19, 2024, announcing 10 new tourist itineraries and 3 itineraries connecting Bai Tu Long - Ha Long.
Mr. Dao Van Vu - Vice Chairman of Van Don District People's Committee assessed that these are attractive factors for the locality to call for investors in the field of tourism development: "We are focusing on inviting businesses to soon put sightseeing tours on Bai Tu Long Bay into operation. We have closely coordinated with departments, branches and especially tourism businesses, Ha Long cruise ship association to focus on deploying qualified ships connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay; mobilizing businesses to focus on researching and investing in discovery cruises according to the permitted standards".
Relevant sectors have also conducted field surveys, assessed inland waterway traffic routes; inspected means of transport and infrastructure serving tourism. Currently, Ao Tien high-class passenger port (built in 2023) is playing an important role with its modern design, spacious berth, and large capacity. When the first tourist route on Bai Tu Long Bay comes into operation in March, Ao Tien port will also become the main gateway to help tourists access Bai Tu Long Bay faster and safer than before.
Mr. Ta Duc Quyen, CEO of Ao Tien Passenger Port shared: “Our company is ready to invest in the necessary infrastructure for Bai Tu Long Bay tour routes, including buoys and warning signs. After many surveys of the bay route with the relevant agencies, the company also hopes that the People's Committee of Van Don district, Quang Ninh province will pay attention and give the policy to be implemented in March.”
Bai Tu Long Bay is adjacent to Ha Long Bay, possessing over 80 large and small islands combined with a vast sea space. This place is famous for many interesting caves such as Ky Nhay pair, Ky Gia pair, The Vang, Hon Chong island cluster, Hon Van Don, Hon On, Hon Ba Sao, Chan Nghia mountain. In addition, on Bai Tu Long Bay, there are many residential areas such as Quan Lan, Ngoc Vung, ... creating conditions for the development of community tourism. The special feature of Bai Tu Long Bay is that the natural environment is still being protected intact, which is an important advantage for the development of eco-tourism, opening up a unique tourist route.
Mr. Pham Van Kinh - Vice Chairman of Cam Pha City People's Committee shared: "We have also completed the work of updating the planning in Decision 80 of the Provincial People's Committee, and in the near future, there will also be a detailed planning to attract investment in one of the three service points on Bai Tu Long Bay. We hope that the province will direct the tourism industry to bring visitors from Ha Long Bay to Bai Tu Long to share the pressure".
Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province said that in 2025, the tourism industry is identified as one of the growth poles, contributing to the locality's growth target of 14%. Quang Ninh's decision to exploit the sea tourism route on Bai Tu Long Bay will increase the options for domestic and international tourists.
“The implementation of tourism activities on Bai Tu Long Bay is extremely necessary, when the Van Don island area has recently had accommodation products, hotel chains with hundreds of rooms; and in the coming July and August this year, a complex of 1,000 rooms will be born, becoming a product package to extend the length of stay of guests when coming to Quang Ninh”, said Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen.
With its existing potential and proper investment, Bai Tu Long Bay can completely become one of the attractive island tourism destinations in the region. Especially, when new tourist routes are fully exploited, combined with a complete infrastructure system, this place will not only attract tourists but also become an important driving force, promoting the economic development of tourism in Quang Ninh.
