According to the Provincial Forest Protection Department, the total forest area granted forest certificates and organic cinnamon certificates in the province has reached 31,661.8 hectares, reaching 79.2% of the plan of 40,000 hectares. Of which, the organic cinnamon area is 19,424.6 hectares (reaching 87.9% of the plan), and the forest area granted forest certificates is 12,237.2 hectares (reaching 68.4% of the plan).

To achieve this result, the Forest Protection Department has directed the District Forest Protection Department to coordinate with enterprises to review areas eligible for participation, and at the same time, propagate and mobilize people to register for forest certification and organic cinnamon certification. Currently, the Green Industry Development Joint Stock Company is coordinating with Van Chan district to implement FSC forest certification contents in 8 communes and villages with forests in the district. Activities include propaganda to forest owners, distributing and collecting applications for participation.

It is expected that in the coming time, the work of internal processing, information input, map building, records and documents will be completed to serve the assessment of forest certification according to regulations. In addition, Hoa Phat Forestry Investment Company Limited and Mai Lam Forestry Company Limited will continue to maintain the area of forest certification in the province. In parallel with the issuance of forest certification, Yen Bai is also actively implementing the policy of payment for forest environmental services (DVMTR).

In May 2025, the Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund received and collected VND 19,360.22 million in forest service fees. To date, the total amount received and collected is VND 33,607.82 million. This work is carried out regularly, ensuring close coordination to determine the service provision area and support timely payment to the supplier.

Despite positive results, forest certification still faces some limitations. Some participating enterprises have not proactively allocated sufficient financial and human resources, leading to slow implementation progress. To overcome this situation, the Forest Protection Department will continue to urge localities and units to speed up progress and promptly report any problems for consultation and proposed solutions.

Promoting forest certification and organic cinnamon certification is the right direction, contributing to bringing Yen Bai forest products to the international market, creating more value and sustainability for the local forestry industry.
