These are the determined shares from the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training and leading mathematician - Professor Ngo Bao Chau - at the conference to review the National Key Program for Mathematics Development for the period 2021-2030.

Recently, at the conference to review the activities of the first 6 months of 2025, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, Head of the Executive Board of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development, strongly set the goal of bringing Vietnamese mathematics into the world's leading group.

Speaking at the conference, Professor Ngo Bao Chau said that the program of comparing mathematical frameworks between Vietnam and the world is gradually being completed. This is an important foundation for Vietnamese Mathematics to integrate deeply.

The professor highly appreciated the policy of attracting talent according to Resolution 57 and encouraged creating conditions for experts to start working immediately upon returning home.

Training high-quality PhD students who can compete internationally is a key evaluation criterion. The professor also suggested expanding cooperation with leading mathematics institutions and increasing the participation of women in research.

The professor proposed that by 2030, it is necessary to build at least 5 specialized laboratories on cryptography, mathematics, and climate change, while developing a high-quality digital science repository to serve students nationwide.

Along with that is the recommendation to increase investment and expand the Institute of Mathematics, promote socialization and support Vietnamese experts abroad.

Deputy Director of the General Education Department Ta Ngoc Tri emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between the department and relevant units in the Ministry of Education and Training to support the implementation of the general education program in mathematics.

In particular, training activities for specialized teachers and math teachers are focused on to spread the spirit of innovation to the entire education system and all classes of people and students across the country.

Aiming to bring Vietnamese mathematics into the world's leading group

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, Head of the National Key Program for Mathematics Development, delivered the opening speech at the conference, emphasizing that the State will continue to create the most favorable conditions for the program to achieve its set goals.

The Ministry of Education and Training is committed to accompanying, especially through amending the Law on Higher Education to promote a flexible training mechanism, suitable to the requirements of in-depth development in mathematics.

In the coming time, the Ministry will promote attracting international experts and scientists to work directly in Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that creating conditions for work implementation as soon as experts arrive is very important, not only helping to enhance research capacity, but also contributing to the program's deep integration with the international community, raising the quality and position of Vietnamese Mathematics.

With the goal of bringing Vietnamese mathematics into the world's leading group, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) focus on attracting Vietnamese talents globally, mobilizing total intelligence at home and abroad.

It is necessary to clearly define the targets for doctoral training, develop high-quality human resources and improve the quality of teaching mathematics in general schools, while promoting international publications and enhancing research and application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of mathematics.

The Deputy Minister noted the need to review tasks to ensure output quality when orienting postgraduate training, associated with the effective use of public finance.
