On the evening of May 20, in Hanoi , Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the National Architecture Award Ceremony.
The award is jointly organized by the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote creativity and honor outstanding authors and architectural works nationwide.
At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that Vietnamese architecture has been affirming its position on the world architectural map; reflecting the strong and diverse development of the country in the period of innovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration.
Generations of Vietnamese architects have made particularly important contributions to the development of urban and rural areas rich in identity, civilized and modern, connecting heritage values with modern trends.
In the context of the world facing unprecedented challenges, from climate change, natural disasters, to rapid urbanization, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that Vietnamese architecture is facing the historic mission of creating safe, sustainable and unique living spaces.
Architectural works not only need to meet aesthetic and functional requirements but also need to become pioneering solutions to respond to urgent issues such as climate change, floods, landslides, while contributing to the construction of smart cities and modern countryside, rich in Vietnamese cultural identity.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnam Association of Architects and architects nationwide will continue to take the lead in participating more actively, deeply and effectively in policy advice, especially in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of planning, architecture and urban management.
Urban and rural development must be planned and planned, and State management must shape architecture imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity; create a favorable space for architects to be creative, conveying traditional values and contemporary values to the face of Vietnamese urban and rural areas, creating cities and villages with the soul and unique features of Vietnamese culture.
"Experts and architects must be highly aware of preserving and promoting the value of national cultural heritage," the Deputy Prime Minister requested.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister said that it is necessary to focus on promoting the development of green and sustainable architecture, using environmentally friendly materials, renewable energy, advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to design smart, energy-saving, environmentally friendly and disaster-safe buildings.
Along with that is intellectual contribution to urban planning and social housing development, proposing solutions to reduce construction costs, ensuring that all people have the opportunity to live in a safe, comfortable and humane space; researching and proposing architectural options, construction solutions that are safe, sustainable, and effectively adaptable to climate change and natural disasters...
Calling on the Vietnam Association of Architects and each architect to create architectural works bearing the cultural imprint and characteristics of each region, locality and country, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Government is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for the development of unique and modern Vietnamese architecture, through transparent policies, encouraging innovation and supporting the strong application of science and technology in architecture.
The Government and people expect that architects will continue to be pioneers, creating works bearing the mark of Vietnam, not only as a source of national pride but also as a symbol of rising to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.
The National Architecture Award is not only a recognition for outstanding works, but also a call for architects to continue to contribute, innovate and spread good values.
The Deputy Prime Minister believes that with their talent, passion and aspiration, Vietnamese architects will create architectural masterpieces, leaving an everlasting legacy for future generations.
According to Dr. Architect Phan Dang Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Architects and Chairman of the Award Council, the 2024-2025 National Architecture Award received the largest number of entries ever.
The participating works are of all types, have progress in quality, are quite diverse in genre, content, rich in form... reflecting the development of the country in the period of strong integration, the cultural industry is promoted.
This year's award has 239 entries, in the following categories: Architectural works; Interior and exterior architecture and Landscape architecture - Urban design; Planning; Research - Theory - Architectural criticism.
Accordingly, this year's award-winning works demonstrate the creative, innovative thinking and updating of world trends of Vietnamese architects; at the same time, they focus on exploiting traditional cultural identity, promoting the functionality and context of the project.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 Grand Prize, 5 Gold Prizes, 12 Silver Prizes, 35 Bronze Prizes to the entries; at the same time, honored the units with the most achievements in the award period, awarded the "For the development of architecture" prize and the prize for the work with the most votes from the community./.
