On May 9, 2025, after receiving information on a social networking site about unsafe food at a restaurant in the area, Co To district quickly organized an interdisciplinary inspection team, including management agencies, local authorities, police, and health, to conduct a surprise inspection at Quan Nhai restaurant - the establishment mentioned.
At the time of inspection, the representative of the restaurant management presented legal documents related to the food service business. The delegation noted that the establishment had a daily food sample storage cabinet, and food processing ingredients were hygienically preserved. The establishment also posted full information on the district hotline for visitors to report and give feedback when necessary. Regarding the above information, the authorities will continue to investigate and clarify.
Not only in Co To district, in the field of food safety, Mr. Luu Duc Dung, Deputy Head of the Provincial Food Safety Department, said: The unit and its member departments have been strengthening supervision, receiving feedback from people as well as tourists about food safety violations, stepping up surprise inspections and strictly handling them according to regulations.
In order to build and maintain the image of civilized, safe and friendly tourism in Quang Ninh, recently, the Provincial People's Committee has issued many documents directing the strengthening of inspection and supervision of the operating conditions of tourism service providers. In particular, the work of maintaining environmental sanitation is given special attention. Tourist attractions have developed plans and arranged staff to clean regularly while welcoming guests, and maintain the policy of not bringing/using disposable plastic items when coming to Ha Long Bay to minimize plastic waste. Tourist areas and attractions with water entertainment services and tourist transport vehicles have seriously implemented solutions to ensure security and safety for tourists. Tourism businesses strictly implement regulations on registration and public posting of prices of goods and services. During the peak month of action for food safety, the province organized 3 interdisciplinary teams, member sectors and localities also continuously organized inspection and supervision activities on the implementation of food safety regulations in all localities in the province, especially in localities with vibrant tourism activities. The hotline of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is also available 24/7 to receive and promptly handle information from tourists.
Mr. Bui Huu Thu (a tourist from Hai Duong province) shared: Every year, I go to Ha Long at least once. The environment is clean, the natural landscape is beautiful, the services are diverse, and the food is delicious. For the services I have experienced, 100% have public prices, and for many years now there has been absolutely no case of ripping off tourists.
Along with that, local authorities in the province also actively promote the role of state management in the area, strengthen inspection, supervision, and handle arising issues quickly and promptly. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach, Vice Chairman of Ka Long Ward People's Committee (Mong Cai City) affirmed: To ensure that tourists have the best experiences, local authorities are always ready to receive feedback from people and tourists. Even outside of office hours or on weekends and holidays, the locality always arranges human resources to ensure the fastest handling of urgent issues related to tourism activities.
During the 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1 alone (from April 30 to May 4), the whole province welcomed over 1.1 million tourists, reaching 112% over the same period in 2024. Of which, the total number of overnight guests reached nearly 500,000. International visitors are estimated at 102,000. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 3,121 billion. This result continues to affirm the attractiveness of Quang Ninh tourism. In the peak summer tourist season of 2025, the province's tourism industry will carry out additional activities to attract tourists, renew and diversify tourism products and experiences. At the same time, state management work continues to be strengthened.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinates with relevant sectors to implement management measures for the tourism business environment throughout the province, especially Ha Long City and key tourism localities; strengthen specialized inspection and examination work to check at tourism businesses, tourist areas and destinations to improve service quality, ensure safety for tourists. At the same time, strictly handle organizations and individuals who do not ensure tourism business conditions, tourism service quality standards; prevent illegal tourism and travel businesses, fraud, solicitation, coercion of tourists during peak seasons and other violations... The traffic force tightens management of compliance with regulations on tourist transport business; the Industry and Trade sector strengthens management of price registration, announcement, price listing, counterfeit goods, fake goods, poor quality goods... to handle violations. The provincial police strengthen management of security and order, fire prevention and fighting, traffic safety; Coordinate in inspecting, investigating, and handling violations at tourist destinations and tourism service establishments; be ready to coordinate to promptly resolve tourists' recommendations and feedback related to the tourism environment.
