Good equipment along with green and economical advantages are the factors that make VinFast EC Van receive attention from many customers looking for economical freight transport solutions that comply with upcoming emission regulations.
From only 285 million VND, shipping "the whole world "
On May 13, VinFast officially launched the EC Van small electric cargo vehicle with a price starting at VND285 million including battery. This is the first electric vehicle to enter the cargo truck segment in Vietnam, opening up new options for transporting goods in the context of increasing demand for green transformation.
Immediately, VinFast EC Van created a storm in the market. A series of large groups about cars, transportation, business... on May 13 were filled with images of EC Van. Many members eagerly "uncovered" each parameter and design of EC Van and shared the opinion that VinFast's rookie will create an earthquake in the segment that only has gasoline cars in Vietnam.
With its compact dimensions (3,767 mm long, 1,680 mm wide, 1,790 mm high) and 2,520 mm wheelbase, the VinFast EC Van is considered suitable for traffic conditions in large cities as well as in rural areas. In addition, despite its compact size, this model has a payload of up to 600 kg and a cargo compartment of up to 2,600 L.
“I sell rice and dried goods, mainly to small restaurants and grocery stores. Each delivery requires dozens of kilos, riding a motorbike is inconvenient and hiring a driver is expensive, not making much profit. A model like the EC Van is very suitable, I can handle 30-40 orders at a time, enough for a day,” said Duc Hung (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), owner of a food store.
With an electric motor with a maximum capacity of 30 kW, maximum torque of 110 Nm, and a maximum speed of 75 km/h, Mr. Hung is completely assured of the EC Van's operating capacity even when carrying maximum load.
Moreover, with a price of only 285 million VND, EC Van is equipped with front disc brakes, rear drum brakes and technologies such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), traction control (TCS), emergency brake hazard lights (ESS)...
“The equipment really exceeded my expectations for this cargo vehicle. The distance of up to 150 km on a single charge is also very good because I only deliver around the city . Even if I need to charge, charging stations are everywhere so there is nothing to worry about,” Mr. Hung calculated.
Therefore, Mr. Hung decided to pay immediately in the upcoming early deposit period to take advantage of the 10 million VND discount, deducted directly from the car price. With the handover date from November 2025, EC Van will still be exempted from 100% of the registration fee. Thus, adding all the mandatory costs, Mr. Hung only needs to spend less than 300 million VND to roll an EC Van - an investment that is both economical and in line with current regulations.
Launched at the right time, potential to monopolize the cargo vehicle market
According to Mr. Minh Phu, a long-time expert in the automobile industry, EC Van not only meets the needs of users for a convenient and versatile cargo vehicle, but also launched at a very reasonable time.
Specifically, from January 1, 2026, major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are expected to apply stricter emission standards than other provinces and cities. At the same time, Hanoi is expected to pilot a low emission zone in some areas in Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts. In these areas, cars and motorbikes that do not meet emission standards will be banned or restricted from circulation.
“With these regulations, EC Van will resolve concerns for users when many gasoline vehicles will gradually be restricted and possibly completely banned . Replacing cargo vehicles with electric vehicles is the perfect solution to help small traders and freight transporters move comfortably and conveniently while creating appeal for their brands,” the expert analyzed.
According to Mr. Phu, switching to electric vehicles will help customers from individuals to businesses save more money, from fuel costs to vehicle maintenance costs. This is also the opinion of many VinFast car users in Vietnam, especially customers using electric vehicles for business purposes.
From there, Mr. Phu believes that it is completely possible for EC Van to soon "monopolize" the freight transport market.
“As gasoline and oil prices fluctuate constantly and emission control regulations become increasingly stricter, EC Van is an investment option that solves both immediate and long-term problems. Many people who have used electric vehicles for passenger transport for a while have been surprised by the cost-optimization ability and do not want to return to gasoline vehicles. I think EC Van is also capable of doing the same thing,” he said.
Information box VinFast will launch an early deposit program for the EC Van model from 8:00 a.m. on May 25 to May 30, 2025 at authorized dealers nationwide and through the Xanh SM partner system. Customers who deposit to buy a car during this period will receive a discount of 10 million VND, deducted directly from the car price.
