Chairman Tran Luu Quang expressed his delight at welcoming the first bipartisan delegation of Congressmen to visit Vietnam in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations and the second year of implementing the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Appreciating the efforts of both sides in building and developing relations, establishing an important foundation to continue strengthening relations, expanding cooperation in all fields, especially economics , trade, investment, science and technology, Head of the Committee Tran Luu Quang expressed his hope that the relations between the two countries will continue to develop positively and substantially.
Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Tran Luu Quang said that in the process of cooperation, the two sides need to share each other's difficulties, and at the same time propose that the United States consider removing Vietnam from the list of restricted exports of strategic goods, creating favorable conditions for further strengthening scientific and technological cooperation and contributing towards balancing the bilateral trade balance.
Regarding the tariff issue, Head of the Committee Tran Luu Quang suggested that the two sides continue to negotiate in a spirit of cooperation, listen to each other's requests, and aim for a harmonious agreement that ensures the interests of both sides and is consistent with the current bilateral relationship.
At the meeting, Head of the Committee Tran Luu Quang also informed the US Congress delegation about Vietnam's major policies and orientations in the coming time, towards the 14th National Party Congress in early 2026, including the important role of science, technology, private economy, policies on health, education and social security.
Congressman John Moolenaar (Republican - Michigan) and other members of the Congress delegation expressed their honor to visit Vietnam in the year of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and thanked the Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, Tran Luu Quang, for taking the time to receive the delegation. Congressman John Moolenaar and other members of the delegation expressed their impression of the strong development of Vietnam and the Vietnam-US relationship in recent years, affirming that the United States values Vietnam's position and role in the region, and wishes to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
