Here, people frankly reflect on problems in life, and the government listens, accepts and promptly directs solutions.

Stemming from the requirement to innovate operations in the 2-level local government model, with the motto "close to the people, close to the people, listening to the people", since the beginning of September 2025, the Party Committee and People's Committee of De Gi commune have deployed the model "Saturday listening to people speak".

The model's goal is to promote democracy at the grassroots level, grasp and promptly handle arising issues, ensure the legitimate rights of the people; at the same time, strengthen the close relationship between the Party, the government and the people.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Vo Van Tai commune said: During the process of meeting voters, the commune leaders realized many pressing issues of the people such as environmental pollution in some residential areas, degraded canals and rural roads, and inadequate assessment of poor households...

These reflections require the government to listen directly and have timely and effective solutions. Therefore, we decided to organize a model of meeting people on Saturday so that officials have more time to dialogue, discuss and handle right at the grassroots level.

Accordingly, the commune leaders take turns going to each village to meet with the people. Here, the people are presented with specific difficulties and recommendations; the commune leaders and professional staff directly answer, guide or record and transfer to the competent authority for consideration.

Along with listening, the government also combines propaganda on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, helping people understand and accompany the government in the process of local development.

“After nearly 2 months of implementation, the model has shown clear effectiveness. Up to now, the Commune People's Committee has recorded nearly 100 opinions from the people. Many recommendations were resolved right at the dialogue session, issues beyond the authority were summarized, reported to superiors and committed to a specific response time. Thereby, the people's trust in the government is increasingly strengthened" - Mr. Tai emphasized.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chung (Thai Phu village) said: “My family is in a difficult situation, and I am sick, so I came to explain my situation. The commune leaders directly listened, understood, and directed the village People's Committee to review and propose to put my family on the poor household list to receive timely support. I am truly touched by the concern and close, open attitude of the commune officials.”

Mr. Tran Van Sau (Hoa Hiep village) shared: “I encountered problems when completing the land division procedures, so I came to the “Saturday to listen to people speak” session to get guidance. The commune officials enthusiastically explained and helped me complete the documents quickly.

Working on Saturday, the atmosphere is comfortable, friendly, not as stressful as going to the administrative office. I find this model very good, practical and should be maintained for a long time."

According to the commune leaders, the difference of the model lies not only in the time or form of organization but also in the spirit of openness, responsibility and attitude of serving the people. Each meeting with the people becomes a democratic forum, where the government really listens, and the people boldly express their opinions and suggestions.

Secretary of the Party Committee of De Gi Commune, Pham Dung Luan, affirmed: The model of "Saturday listening to people speak" is not only an opportunity to receive and resolve people's petitions but also an opportunity for officials and civil servants to practice a working style close to the people, close to the people, and respect the people. When people feel that their voices are heard and responded to promptly, they will trust and accompany the government in carrying out socio-economic development tasks.

The model also contributes to creating positive changes in administrative reform at the grassroots level. Many arising problems are resolved right in the village, contributing to maintaining security and order, and strengthening solidarity in the community.
