Earlier, on the afternoon of October 21st, at Ban Ho Ethnic Boarding Primary School in Ban Ho commune, several boarding students exhibited symptoms of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and dizziness after lunch and dinner that day.
Lunch consisted of white rice, ginger-fried chicken, pumpkin soup with minced meat, and watermelon; dinner consisted of white rice, braised pork belly, roasted peanuts simmered in fish sauce, and cabbage soup. After the meals, 36 students showed unusual digestive symptoms.

The school promptly took the children to the Bản Hồ Commune Health Station for first aid, and then transferred them to the Thanh Phú Regional Multi-Specialty Clinic (Mường Bo Commune) for monitoring and treatment. There, they were induced to vomit, given fluids and electrolytes, and their health was monitored.
By 8:00 AM on October 22nd, 33 out of 36 students had recovered and were taken back to school to continue their studies; the remaining 3 students also returned to school as normal on October 23rd.

Immediately after the incident, health authorities collected food and biological samples for testing to determine the cause. Local authorities intensified coordination with relevant agencies to investigate and clarify the incident; at the same time, they tightened inspections and supervision of food safety and hygiene at school cafeterias to ensure the health of students.
Lao Cai Newspaper will continue to provide updates once the official investigation conclusions are available from the relevant authorities.
