The Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that after the rare incident that occurred at Thai Hoa Palace recently, the unit has directed the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum to bring the Nguyen Dynasty throne back to the antiques warehouse for storage and preservation, and at the same time bring the restored throne to display at Thai Hoa Palace to serve tourists.
To prevent similar incidents, in the coming time, the Center will develop a plan to ensure strict security and safety in the heritage site in general and for artifacts, antiquities... especially national treasures. Strengthen security equipment and support tools; strengthen protection work, training in handling security situations, early detection and prevention of suspicious phenomena...
Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, said that this was a very unfortunate incident with serious consequences. Immediately after the incident, the Hue City People's Committee promptly reported to the Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and quickly implemented solutions to better preserve the valuable artifacts that the city is preserving.
"The leaders of the City People's Committee have directed the organization to comprehensively assess the situation and grasp the specific facts of the incident. On that basis, relevant organizations and individuals are required to seriously review and review responsibilities. At the same time, the city also clearly identifies lessons learned to develop more effective protection plans, both for each specific artifact and the overall complex of existing relics and heritages in the area," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh stated.
Regarding the Nguyen Dynasty throne, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh requested that the competent authorities advise the City People's Committee to establish a professional council to assess the current status, develop a plan for preservation and treatment, and submit it to competent authorities in accordance with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.
