Long An promotes relics and develops sustainable tourism

Long An exploits 127 relics and traditional craft villages to develop tourism. The province promotes promotion, invests in infrastructure, applies technology to preserve heritage, connects culture and history with OCOP products, attracts young tourists, contributes to developing the rural economy and preserving national identity.

Long An owns 127 historical and cultural relics, including 21 national relics and 106 provincial relics, along with many traditional craft villages. The province is gradually promoting its tourism potential, associated with preserving cultural values ​​and developing the local economy .

In addition to restoring and preserving historical structures, Long An province has also actively prepared dossiers to propose national relic ranking for many locations such as Long Hiep House (Ben Luc district), Cau Kinh area (Can Giuoc district) and included typical festivals such as Co Son Pagoda and Long Khot Temple in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An province, local tourism not only focuses on traditionaleducation but also focuses on economic development by calling for investment and expanding service infrastructure. The province also promotes the application of technology in heritage conservation and data digitization to serve visitors more effectively.

Developing tourism associated with craft villages

"If in 2022, the destinations welcomed about 150 groups with about 14,000 visitors, then by 2023 it would double, about 260 groups with 40,000 visitors. In the first 6 months of this year alone, there were over 120 groups with over 21,000 visitors visiting historical sites in Long An," said Mr. Quoc.

Despite many difficulties, Long An tourism industry still strives to promote and attract tourists with experience and sightseeing programs associated with local history and culture. In 2024, the province welcomed more than 340,000 visitors to historical sites and festivals.

Along with that, Long An tourism industry focuses on supporting craft villages, improving production capacity and introducing OCOP products - the One Commune One Product program. Currently, Long An has 139 products meeting OCOP standards (40 products reaching 4 stars, 99 products reaching 3 stars), with many product introduction and sales points in Tan An, Duc Hoa and Can Duoc.

With the orientation of developing green, sustainable and community-connected tourism, Long An is affirming its position as an attractive destination, rich in cultural and historical values, attracting more and more domestic and foreign tourists.
