In Chieng Ken commune, the Dai Bi tree - a wild plant that has long been used by the Tay people as medicine to treat colds, stomachaches, headaches, etc. is gradually becoming a valuable commodity. Realizing the potential of this precious medicinal herb, An Duoc Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative has researched and processed many product lines such as essential oils, tea, balms, mouthwashes, etc. from Dai Bi leaves.
Currently, the Cooperative has 6 products recognized as 3-star OCOP, widely consumed in and outside the province. In addition to the dealer system, the products are also promoted through social networking platforms and e-commerce platforms, contributing to market expansion. Currently, the unit's products are widely consumed in and outside the province, bringing in revenue of over 2 billion VND per year.
Along with improving product quality, the Cooperative also pays special attention to building a stable raw material area. Currently, the unit cooperates with 20 households to grow, harvest and process raw materials, thereby creating regular jobs and increasing income for dozens of rural workers.
Not only in the field of medicinal herbs, the OCOP program in Van Ban is also successful in the processed food industry with the sausage products of Mr. Vu Huu Hoang's family in Khanh Yen town. It is known that Mr. Hoang's family has many years of experience in processing ham, sausages from local pork. With its own secret, combining modern technology and meticulousness in each stage of production, the facility has created delicious, safe products with their own unique flavors.
Up to now, Van Ban district has 30 OCOP products (still valid), all of which are local specialties, imbued with the identity of the highlands such as: Bamboo shoots, herbal essential oils, herbal tea, black banh chung, dried meat... After being classified as OCOP, most products have had their designs, packaging, and origin traceability stamps improved, helping to increase their commercial value. Many production facilities have recorded at least a 1.5-fold increase in revenue, creating stable jobs for dozens of rural workers.
The OCOP program is gradually contributing to changing the face of Van Ban countryside. With the support of local authorities and the proactive and creative spirit of the people, OCOP products here are increasingly affirming their position in the market, contributing to sustainable agricultural and rural development.
