Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai attended a conference to promote lychee consumption in Bac Giang.

NDO - On the morning of May 28, at the Bac Giang Provincial Convention Center, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai attended a conference to promote the consumption of lychee and other key agricultural products, specialties, and OCOP products of Bac Giang province in 2025. The conference was held in person and online.

Attending the conference were representatives of central and local ministries and branches; representatives of the government and enterprises of Pingxiang city (Guangxi province), Hekou district (Yunnan province, China), along with many domestic and foreign enterprises, cooperatives and traders.

Bac Giang is the “lychee capital” of Vietnam, with 29,700 hectares of lychee in 2025, with an estimated output of 165,000 tons. The products are produced according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic standards, protected by trademarks in 8 countries, and exported to more than 30 markets. The province has granted codes to nearly 300 growing areas with an area of ​​over 21,000 hectares, along with a modern processing and logistics system.

Bac Giang lychees are now connected to major distribution systems such as GO!, BigC, WinMart, and e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and Alibaba. Export markets, especially China, are prioritized, along with potential markets such as the US, Japan, and the EU. The province also develops agricultural tourism with the program “Luc Ngan Lychees - The Quintessence of Vietnamese Fruits”.

In addition to lychee, Bac Giang has 419 OCOP products with 3 stars or more and 56 key agricultural products.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai congratulated Bac Giang on its outstanding socio -economic achievements. With double-digit economic growth for three consecutive years (2022-2024), Bac Giang leads the northern midland and mountainous region. The province's PCI index ranked 4th in the country in 2023 and 2024, with the fastest improvement rate in the past 20 years.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Hai highly appreciated the initiative to organize a conference to promote the consumption of lychee and key agricultural products, specialties, and OCOP products of Bac Giang province in 2025, demonstrating Bac Giang's determination to bring lychee and key agricultural products to the global market.

He suggested that the province continue to innovate business methods, apply digital transformation and combine traditional and online sales channels to increase the value of agricultural products.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly called on central ministries and sectors to provide comprehensive support to Bac Giang. Specifically, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment needs to provide guidance on the application of advanced production techniques, manage growing area codes, and expand the list of agricultural products officially exported to China.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade accompanies Bac Giang in promoting trade, connecting businesses and providing market information. The Ministry of Science and Technology needs to prioritize research on preservation technology and deep processing to meet long-distance export needs.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Hai also suggested that Chinese partners create “green lanes” at border gates such as Bang Tuong and Ha Khau, shortening customs clearance procedures for lychees. In addition, provinces, cities and media agencies need to step up promotion, connect consumption and spread the image of Bac Giang lychees associated with eco-tourism and culture, contributing to creating momentum for Bac Giang to achieve the economic growth target of 13.6% in 2025.

The conference on promoting the consumption of lychee and key agricultural products, typical products, and OCOP products of Bac Giang province in 2025 heard many opinions from lychee production, distribution, processing and consumption units.

Comrade Nguyen Viet Oanh, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, accepted the direction of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, committed to creating favorable conditions for businesses, ensuring product quality and effectively exploiting trade agreements.
